So, I found this tank in my attic. I was cleaning up and getting rid of old junk. I don't remember ever seeing this before so it must have belonged to a cousin and got stuffed away up there somehow. It's an old cheapy green army men carrying case kinda thing, it opens up. But I'm thinking I can pop off the silly broken turret and build it up using cityfight building pieces and lots of other bitz, all I would really keep of the original thing is the giant treads. I stuck my baneblade next to it for size comparison. Wadaya think? Is it the start of my very own Leviathan?

Here's a pic I found of an old epic leviathan when I did a quick google..

it's close on the size, but nowhere near on the height.

Leviathans are very tall tanks.

That said, maybe just make up rules for it and use it in Apoc?

Yeah that's pretty much the plan.. all I would use from this toy is the giant tank treads, and I'd use COD stuff to build it up real big.

Plasticard is your friend.

I'd say perhaps go for an Ordinatus Golgotha, just cause I want to see a 40 version

then DO IT dude!

If I had one of those knocking about thats exactly what I'd do with it, make sure you check out the recent Leviathon blogs for guidence, that could be incredible and wont cost you 2 baneblade for the tracks!

Highlord with a Blackstone Fortress

Adrift within the vortex of my imagination.

It is big enough for an ordinatus base, perhaps a little too big. I think it is about right for a Capitol Imperialis judging bynthe comparison of the footprint betwwen it and the Baneblade compred to the Epic counterparts.

It is too big for a Leviathan, both tanks are much taller but a Leviathan is not that much wider and longer than a Baneblade, about 25% extra each way.

There was a thread on this, and I provided images. I will try and drag it up.

n'oublie jamais - It appears I now have to highlight this again.

Check out the compared Epic super heavies halfway down the page. You will find your tank is pretyty much spot on for a Capitol Imperialis base.

Cool thanks for the link .. for some reason i thought the leviathan and imperialis were the same size, just different weapons. I guess I'll see what happens when I get ready to start building it.. I have a few other projects I want to get out of the way first

But I do like what Foda_Bet said in that thread.. "The correct scale is the one that makes the builder happy."

So, I was thinking about this project some more today...

I think this would make a better Leviathan.. just looking at the datasheet from BOLS here ... The capitol Imperialis can transport 100 men, or 10 "IG Tanks" .. so if I wanted it to look like it could fit, say, 10 chimeras in there, it would have to be pretty hella big.

But what I'm really to think of how I would want to do the side turrets? For a leviathan I need at least 6 twin-linked lascannon turrets, and I have the option to add 8 twinlinked heavy bolter turrets. I'd like to add em all just for coolness.

In the pic of the one from the BOLS rules it looks like they used Tarantula guns for it. That seems like a good idea, but for me those things would cost $30 each. $30x14? ouch.

Maybe I could try my hand at casting but I've never done that before and I'm afraid that will be one big mess and will end up looking like crap.

We can't bitz order from GW anymore, but I could get a razorback sprue from the warstore for $14 each, I'd get the lascannons and bolters on the same sprue, but I'd still need 8 of them .. so, $112. Not so bad, but still kinda high.

Anyone have any other ideas? Obviously I'd like to keep my costs down, but I want it to look good in the end..

If you re looking for heavy weapons en masse, maybe buying a box of the IG heavy weapons platoon?

Well you could take advantage of the large siderunners of the Leviathan to make the tower section considerably smaller than the base.

I definately think you can get away with it. The other Leviathan linked to was way too big, this is more manageable. also Imperial tanks do vary by editions.

While the Capitol would be a better fit it makesfor a very boring vehicle. expensive, undergunned and largely useless. it is a strategic not a tactical transport, of very limited direct use on the battlefield. Most editions of epic gave it laughable firepower for its size.

The Leviathan on the otherhand is a powerhouse, and far more likely to see front line use. Its also a lot more common, bothy Imperial and Chaos forces used Leviathans in the 13th Black Crusade, wheras Capitol Imperialis have had scant mention in anything since the Horus heresy. Like the Ordinatus the Capitol Imperialis is likely all but extinct.

Yeah I was thinking of the HW platoons too. But I think the razorback turret is gonna be my best bet. I'll have the TL lascannons and TL heavy bolters both on 1 sprue. I know I'm planning to get at least 2 rhinos for my chaos marines so I can buy razorbacks and just build the rhino. And I have some folks in my groups that will have leftover bitz for one or the other.. so I should be able to pull it off. Will just take time to get all of the bitz together.. and I'm not planning to have this done till my club's big apocalypse game a year from now.. so I have time We do a big whole-club game every november and this year I'm bringing my nids

And yeah I thought the Capitol Imperialis was boring looking too. I think the Leviathan will just be a lot more fun to build and also to plop on the table so I can hear a collective "WTF!" from the other team
