So, from the south east Jaxx florida, we had this for our top three:

1. Orks. (Horde list I believe)
2. Nidzilla (classic configuration)
3. Tau (A surprise in my opinion)

How about the rest of the country?

Mayhem Comics in Des Moines, Iowa

Game Shoppe in Bellavue, NE had;

1. Mech Eldar
2. Berserky heavy Chaos Marines.
3. Deathwing

Third place was controversial because they gave it to a guy who had two wins and a draw over a person who had two wins and a loss, despite the fact the guy who had the loss had more points. They said it was supposed to be awarded on win/loss ratio with points only being a tie breaker. First I or anyone else there had heard that before.

In a way that makes sense, but I don't think that's the way it works.

Does the Slaanesh part just mean that they took two Lash, or did they actually have Noise Marines?

First off... it was supposed to be total points. NOT a win/loss ratio and total points as a tie breaker!

second.. both Slaanesh had double lash of sorts. the first place one (my friend Brad) had 2 Lash princes. The 3rd place one (Pink chaos?!) had a Lash prince and a Lash sorc on a bike. The BA player in second place was my friend John.

No one disputed that. I said that it made sense, but that I didn't think it works that way.

So far we have:

9 stores reporting;

Orks: 7
Nidz: 3
Tau: 1
Chaos: 6
Blood Angels: 1
Demons: 2
Deathwing: 1
Eldar: 4
Dark Eldar: 1
Witchhunters: 1

Chaos and Orks make up 13 of the 27 spots shown so far.

At mine Orks took 4 of the top 6....about 40ish players with around a dozen orks and a dozen chaos.

Thinking that orks didn't dominate the metagame might be silly...everyone either packed something to deal with orks or wrote up an ork list it seems.

I found out today that 2 of top 3 from 1st round at store I played in didn't go to 2nd round. Sad!

That means top 5 didn't want to go on. I took 8th with sketchy first round loss. Would of been 2-0-1. I definately would of traveled to play anywhere to play.

The guy who went with his terminator heavy vanilla marines got crushed.

Austin, TX - I'm not absolutely positive but this is best I can remember. I'll edit if I need to.

1) Black Templars
2) Nidzilla
3) Dark Eldar
4) Emperor's Children (me)

I got 4th place by a single battle point - and if I'd gotten it, VPs as the tie breaker would have easily put me in the spot.

What I want to know is if I can still end up going, if one of the top 3 decides not to go. Several people mentioned hearing the 3rd place guy say earlier on something akin to "I don't care if I win, I'm not going to Baltimore". Anyone know how that's handled, and if I should keep checking in to see if the slot's opened up, or if they are good about checking it themselves and will contact me?

3) Eldar

All in all, fact is that Warhammer 40K has never been as balanced as it is now, and codex releases have never been as interesting as they are now (new units and vehicles and tons of new special rules/strategies each release -- not just the same old crap with a few changes in statlines and points costs).

Spellbound I would call up Battleforge and talk to one of the owners and see what he wants to do. That is very plausible but might have to check with GW.

Do you know which workers are the owners, so I can ask for them? I called them today and they said "if we hear anything we'll contact you" but what I'm worried about is the non-goers just sitting idle and not going, but not bothering to be considerate enough to call to report as such. That's why I wondered if they're good about checking things themselves - would they call to find out?

This may sound naive, but surely the massed numbers of Orks at these tournaments is pretty much summed up by the following:

Orks are always popular
Orks are generally pretty hard
Orks have a new codex to use and abuse?

I'm not a tournament player, so forgive me if you think I've got it totally wrong. But going with these ideas, surely soon Marines will as successful as Orks? They seem to tick all the same boxes. I can't help but think that as soon as the new Marine codex is ''cracked'', they'll be Marine armies on top until the next competitive race gets a makeover.

I really should be spending my time more constructively.

Shhh, your not supposed to point out things that make them all look stupid.

Everyone knows that Orks are on top because there are more people playing them then other races, and the people playing the other races are not used to the new Ork dex so they where unprepared. But they like bitching about it because then they don't have to admit that they lost simply because the other person was better, they can blame it on the dex.
