Inspired by the various =I=munda working going on here, I read over the Necromunda rules for the first time, and trolled the internet for Necromunda conversions. Knowing that my dear wife would be displeased with me hitting Ebay to buy up a bunch of offical figures, using what I already have seemed to be a good idea. Since I have a large bitz box full of Empire, Guard, and Marine equipment from the last three versions of 40k, equiping figures is not a problem but having the base bodies is. Here, I used mostly Empire Militia bitz with a Marine head (from the always useful Space Wolf sprue). A new box of scouts provided the shotgun.

Since I took this picture I added some hair and a cargo pocket on his left thigh, filled in the cuts in the slide of the shotgun, worked on his shoes, and fixed his thumb. Base is the usual sand, plus some chopped up bits from a razor.

Background is my painting desk, and some assorted figures I am working on for my Fauxfly project.

Any suggestions for this fellow?

Change the boltgun for a bolt pistol or another type of pistol. It just looks too big for him to carry around. Imagine running around with too much weapons in the Underhive, you would get killed because you become too slow.

Could you take some other view pictures of that model as well?

Oh yeah, put "=][=munda" in your threat title and you'll get more views and comments I think!

The shotgun isn't really a problem, it's just the bolter. And yes...I know GW tends to make ridiculously large weapons (just look at how big real weapons are compared to normal human beings to see what I mean) but that bolter is just a bit too beefy to be carried around by a normal human, especially in one hand while the other one is carrying a shotgun.

Thanks for the comments. I will try to get some more pictures up soon.

The bolter is because the Necromunda bounty hunter is officially armed with a shotgun, chainsword, bolter or hotshot lasgun, and a bolt pistol. I did not want to work on a sling for the bolter, and already had the idea of him cradling the shotgun, so that left him firing it one handed. I also was not interested in another lasgun armed figure, my forum name not-withstanding.

I figure his arm is bionic or something to be able to heft that large of a gun single handed, because even a rocket shell in that caliber is going to give you some serious recoil. in fact, I may just modify his arm to make it look more bionic... hmm.

Maybe try a 2nd edition bolter? They're a little bit smaller and look a little more suitable in the hands of normal humans. The main problem is that GW doesn't really make any bolters that aren't scaled for marines.

The second edition bolter is nearly the same size in every way, and actualy seems to have more mass. However, it is shorter from top to bottom, and that may make it look shorter once he is holding it. The grip is further forward on the gun too, so the balance may look better. I will give it a try.

YO DAKKA DAKKA!

I want to give my Sternguard the 2nd ed bolters you're on about... But I've been using them occasionally in my squads, and only actually have two spare... need more of those...

Oh, uh.. Mini looks great. The bolter looks like it's too heavy for him - by that I mean his expression and the way it's angled down as though he's trying really hard to be a space marine.... by the Emperor these guns are heavy!

Looks neat, should paint up well. If you're only worried that it doesn't have enough bitz, then don't.

The head is WAY too big IMO. I really like the dynamic of the fig, the guns are massive, but hey that's the name of the game, but the over sized head needs to go.

Perhaps you could model some sort of Scabbs (Kal Jericho's assistant) like model based on some Undead Ghoul or something who carried all this extra equipment and weapons on his back?

Hmm, I´ll semi-second the comments on the head. That SW frame is great for heads, and some other bits..

It is on the large side for that body, but paint can do wonderful things to disguise that.

However, if you exchange the body parts for IG or scout parts, or possibly biggerize him, he´ll look totally bad@ss.

Sort of late to change the head now. I know that Marine heads are a bit large for a standard figure even when they are the same size as a marine, but it had the techy bitz on the back that I wanted. I think that from above, which is where you see the figure during a game, he will look normal.

Here is a picture of the back of his head, with hair!

On the biggerizing note, I definitely need to try that with another figure. CMDante's blood pack trooper looks fantastic, partly due to being 3mm taller so that his body is more in proportion.

Not so keen on the hair (photo of front please), although that little bionic arm looks nifty. I would say shave down the back of the head and resculpt neck/bionics as needed. Or a big right shoulderpad. Now that the head has been mentioned I can see it - and that sort of thing gets worse from a higher perspective.
