hi there. so i just bought the battle company and i'm not sure on how i should paint them. i've narrowed it down to either standard Dark Angels or the Dark Angels second founding Angels of Absolution (bleach bone looking marines). let me know what you all think and help choose which i should go with. thank you.

I would paint them in a way you like personaly after playing smerfs for 6 years I needed a break so I stripped my 4th company and painted them up as cuardians of the covanant.

I would go angels of absolution, but personally I like the Dark Angels colour scheme. The reason I would advise the Angels of absolution is that you could use both codexes without complainers.

Do a custom green scheme. Then you can play as anything.

this is as close as I can find. Basically its a bleached bone color scheme with dark blue highlights.

To paint one I would use the following

1) Dheneb Stone base coat
2) wash with Gryphonne Sepia
3) High light with bleached bone and then skull white
4) Eagle paint with Necron Abyss
5) High light eagle with Regal blue then Ultramarine Blue
6) Joints paint Chaos Black
7) high light joints with Codex Grey

that will give you the base color scheme. Details like the eyes can be a red or green based gem look or what ever tickles your fancy.

Ew.

At least, add some color or contrast to them. Like white shoulderpads or something.

I'd try white shoulderpads - the squad and Chapter insignia & heraldry will look better.

The shoulderpads should probably be metallic gold to bridge the colors...

The gun and eagle should probably be navy/midnight for best contrast.

White and metallic colors won't contrast with the bleached bone very well. Remember that bleached bone is basically an off-white color.

Or how something like this for contrast?

@CD: The idea is for more of a subtle tonal contrast, as opposed to a basic chromatic contrast.
