No I am not bitter, and no, there is no truth or insight to the following, just thought it would be an interesting discussion.

What I Dream will happen () What will probably happen

Guardsmen: 5pts tripple tap lasguns () 7pts but krak and frag standard
Chimera: drastic reduction of cost () same cost, but even more over priced weapon options
Storm Troopers: ap3 hellguns () 11pts a model, but more free krak!
Ogryn: t5 () 4+ save and a points increase
Russ: No change () a points increase becuase now we can put an overpriced plasma cannon on it that can only fire every other turn
Advisors rule: dies a quiet death () Pretty much the same but per platoon
Hellhound: No change () template must touch the gun barrel, oh yeah glances count as pens
sentinals: points drop, gains infiltrate () no change
rough riders: reusable lances () points increase
bassilisk: points decrease, three per FOC () 3d6 scatter, scatter lowest d6 on a hit.

bitterness and cynicism will get you nowhere. its still far too early to begin to comment on the new IG codex yet. all you have to do is wait a few months and then you can comment on the rumours.

taking up the mission

If we were to play each other in a tournament, not only would I table you, I would murder you, your family, every woman you ever loved and burn down your house. I mean, what's the point in winning if you allow people that don't take the game seriously to live?

Command bubble will disappear, Guardsmen will be given LD5, and a special rule that makes them take a leadership test anytime there is a loud noise. Oh, and A - in close combat, only get an attack when they charge. Plus, Ogryns, Rattlings, and anything that breathes a chance of adding flavor and fluff to the army will be removed, raped, then urinated on in the back alleys of the UK.

Just because anyone agrees with anyone, doesn't mean they are correct. Beware the thin line between what is "Correct" and what is "Popular."

In the new codex the basic guardsman costs only 4 points each and has access to the following upgrades, bought squad by squad, WYSIWYG applies:

1 pt/model: Frag grenades. See main rulebook.
2 pts/model: Krak grenades. See main rulebook.
1 pt/model: Flak armor. Models with flak armor have a 5+ armor save.
1 pt/model: Lasguns. Guardsmen armed with lasguns may upgrade further to special and heavy weapons in the same manner as before.
1 pt/model: Boots. Models without boots always move as if in difficult terrain, treat difficult terrain as dangerous terrain, and dangerous terrain as impassable.
1 pt/model: Canteens. Models without canteens must roll a dice at the start of every turn. On a result of 4+ the model dies of thirst and is removed as a casualty.
1 pt/model: Extra ammunition. Models without extra ammunition may only fire their weapons once per game. remove the models from play and replace with models without guns. If no such models are available, remove the squad from play and treat as destroyed.

I want to see an emphasis on what makes the IG a 40k army and not just generic sci-fi fodder; Ogryn and Ratlings.

I'd like to see advisers redone; overall it was a good idea but had poor execution. Psykers, Priest, and Commissars need to all be equally good options. Psyker should move more towards the old battle psykers and less of the sanctioned psykers we have now. Make them so they can just be attached to any unit, rather than the hierarchy based allocation; where they are just IC permanently attached to a squad. Move the different advisers contingents into the HQ platoon, as far as limiting the number of them is concerned.

I'd like platoon commands to be able to call shots in from basilisks, giving an accuracy boost. Like 2d6-(Basalisk BS + Officer BS).

Heavy stubbers as special weapons.

Chimeras receive autocannons as an in-book option.

Vultures in the book with strafing run rules of some sort.

A combat engineer type squad, even if its tied to the enginseer, that can fortify positions and utilize demolitions.

A tank commander special character.

I would like to see advisors redone with less of a trickle down effect. Even if you need to attach the advisors to a command squad, I don't want to have a put a commisar in my HQ to put a commisar in the field.

I'd also like to see the Chimera become a cost-effective model.

What I really want:
- Chimeras priced like SM Razorbacks (40 pts)
- Platoons, Carapace, and Cameoline
- no increases to Heavy / Special Weapons prices
- rational Stormtrooper pricing, as Troops

If I get that, I will be happy and not care about the rest.

But that's what i have always loved about guard.

Think starship troopers but worse.
