The GBP has historically traded at about 1 for 2 to the US dollar, its current value is roughly 1.63-1.65 US dollars.

What does this mean?

It means we in the US can essentially buy Forgworld products for about 18-20% cheaper than they were a few weeks ago. This is good news for Forgeworld. Their relative domestic purchasing power hasn't really declined, but their customers have just received a huge incentive to buy *now* as though they had just put everything on sale, without *actually* doing so (unless they plan to sink their profits right back into another foreign currency, which I highly doubt).

I know if I were them I'd be kicking it into overdrive right about now.

Comments?

The correct pronunciation is Imperial Guard and Stormtroopers, "Astra Militarum" and "Tempestus Scions" are something you'll find at Hogwarts.

AUD and GBP seem to be in a race for who can tank harder faster right now. Looks like AUD is winning that race too. :(

The pound could drop another 50% and I still wouldn't have the paper to afford any of the forge world models i pine for.

No, the GBP has usually been around what it is now, the 1 for 2 which has been the trade rate for the last year or so was because of the dollars weakness.

+ its not an all time low at all, it's just returned to what it was five or so years ago.

And also, anyone reading this and thinking of buying some forge world gear in the US. Please remember that cross atlantic purchases will result in you getting a nice big bill after you have received your stuff asking you to pay the customs, which is on top of any shipping costs listed on the forgeworld site.

However, yes, its the best its been in the last five years for you lot.

k, but that kinda contradicts the 'all time' bit you wrote in the title.

anyways I agree with sumagorath. getting ridiculously expensive stuff cheaper doesnt make it reasonable, only slightly less ridiculous.

Damn straight. With the current standing of our dollar, ordering from the US is a complete waste of time and the UK is rapidly losing its usefulness.

Not actually true.

While I was 'away' a few weeks back, I did a FW order that included a number of the newer/just released items, and IA6. It arrived in less than a week.

I dunno, but they might be past the horrible shipping delay problem. Now all they have to fix is the horrible miscasting problems, the horrible inflated price problem and the horrible copypasta rules writing problem, and they'll be a perfect company.

How bad is customs on orders to the U.S.? Is there a standard % or is a sliding scale?

Im not sure dlphaen about uk to us, but I have experience importing from the us to uk and if the amount of the item is over something like 30 quid it qualifies for both import tax and customs duty. which are about 17 percent each.

..and after I learnt that it became the only time i had experience importing from the us.

I've ordered a bunch of stuff from Britain over Ebay. Never had any issues with customs.

yeh they dont check them all, but trust me on this. You don't want the day they do to be the day you bought a reaver titan.

from the forge wrold website...
"Import Taxes (outside the UK) Forge World is not responsible for any charges you may have to pay in taxes or customs duty. We suggest you contact your local customs office to establish what charges you may incur if you buy our goods from outside the UK."

so check the "local customs office" if you know where one of them is :S
