Can they stop growing?

I'm brainstorming conversion ideas and have something in mind but it kinda depends on this.

Ghazghkull is supposed to be about 20' tall. IIRC the size of a warlord depends on how big of a Waaagh! he can get going.

An Ork's size depends on his age, belligerence, and how much he has fought. There's fluff in the Ork 'dex of one warlord who fought in a long campaign, and when it was over, his Nobs stood about 3/4 the size of a Dreadnought.

i got told that orks literally hunch, and if they stood up straight then the normal boy would be around 8 feet tall.
But i could be wong, and Ghazghkull 20 foot tall, man thats a little big.

Well i dont think id like to meet him personally, but in model form yes, and him being bigger is debatable, some people would say hes fine the way he is.

In the fourth (?) edition 'dex it mentions that Orks are hunched over, especially warbosses, because of their style of fighting and their heavy wargear.

Heres a bit of fluff:
"It is widely accepted that prolonged periods of conflict lead to an increase in the size and strength of Orkoid individuals. Our research team set out to investigate wether this phenomenon had additional, further reaching, effects on Ork societies
[...]
Orkoid settlements which have undergone long term isolation [up to 10,000] show a decline in sizeand stature from those more regularly encountered. Samples [...] show a decrease in body mass of 15-19%"

A warboss stands about 3m tall, but if he stood tall, he could reach 0.5-1 meter higher. Gazghkull would be even taller. They also do get stronger as they fight, which is the reason veterans (or Skarboyz) are so powerful compared to regular boyz.

Orks get big, but not THAT big. I don't think an Ork would live to get that big. I'm pretty sure Ghazkhull was the biggest and from what I've heard, Commissar Yarrick killed him (That's from what I've HEARD, I still refuse to believe it).

If we can assume that the WHFB Orcs are comparable to 40K Orks, there is a picture in one of the WHFB army books or an Orc Warboss fighting the WHFB Emperor. He completely towers over the Emperor and looks like he could take out a small cottage all by himself! Wish I could find the pic.....

And so, due to rising costs of maintaining the Golden Throne, the Emperor's finest accountants spoke to the Demigurg. A deal was forged in blood and extensive paperwork for a sub-prime mortgage with a 5/1 ARM on the Imperial Palace. And lo, in the following years the housing market did tumble and the rate skyrocketed leaving the Emperor's coffers bare. A dark time has begun for the Imperium, the tithes can not keep up with the balloon payments and the Imperial Palace and its contents, including the Golden Throne, have fallen into foreclosure. With an impending auction on the horizon mankind holds its breath as it waits to see who will gain possession of the corpse-god and thus, the fate of humanity......

If ghazkhull is twenty feet tall then his model is too small a representation surely.

Space Marines are meant to be about 8 ft tall right? I'd say Ghazkull was twice the size of a space marine.

I think Ghaz left Armageddon at some point when he realized he couldn't conquer the planet. Yarrick is in pursuit with a bunch of Black Templars I think, but I'm not 100% percent sure, since the the 4th edition books all seem to go bacl in the timeline

Yeh, and space marines are already under scale. Ghazkull should be at least another half his height taller.

He did, twice. First time Ghaz headbutted Yarrick (his 'eadbutt like getting hit by a train) and Yarrick vowed to kill Ghaz. Second time Ghaz ran Yarrick over with his Deffrolla Fortress, took Yarrick prisoner, beat the sh** out of him, and Ghaz said "Oi, you puts up a good fight! I needz a good fight when I gets back 'ere!," so Ghaz lets him go.

Also, if I understood the Ork 'dex correctly, Ghaz killed Master Belial. I can imagine that, Ghaz snatching Belial from the air and pounding the crap out of him.

Master Belial is the master of the DEATHWING, not ravenwing, so it would be more like cracking a bone colored walnut. Makes me sad, I use Belial in my army. And Sammel ( Master of the Ravenwing) is way too cool to be killed by Ghaz

Belial still exists. Ghaz was not successful in the fight and Belial was recovered by his brothers.
and the DA drove Ghaz's orks from piscina after that fight.

Ghaz is a THE pimp as far as Orks go. and yea hes suppose to be friggin GIGANTIC! i guessreally it depends on just how much fightin the ork gets into. i read about those nobs nofasse was talking about. i mean if its in the dex... its suppose to be true.
I think if your planning on making a big ass Ork boss, as long as he isnt the size of a FW greater demon of Khorne youll be fine. really i think GW kindda nudges people in the direction of making a boss huge. even just using the rules from the dex to make a normal boss they are serious badasses.
so whats your idea anyways?
