For my second army, I have decided to play Chaos Space Marines. While I'm not permanently ruling any of the various Marks or unit selections out, I am going to be focusing on a Tzeentch and Slaanesh army that doesn't use bikes. Originally I was going to do a Thousand Sons theme (without the hats) but the draw of Slaanesh is just too strong to resist. The colour scheme will be predominately very dark blue and yellow, with some purple occasionally splashed about. Now they just need a name and some back story but I am a little lost for an army name, hence the poll. If you could please vote and explain your selection, that would be fabulous. And feel free to suggest additional army names that are inspired by both Tzeentch and Slaanesh themes.

I personally don't like names in that format.

Look at GW's army names. Red Toof orks, Black Templar, Blood Angels, Crimson Fists, etc.

Names with these conventions are easier to roll of the tongue and fit an army as a "name" better than "somethign of something".

So my suggestino is to think about yoru army theme and try for something like:
Seductive Fire,
Lust Enchanters,
Tenticle Tide(that's my Slaaneshi army),
Lust Wing(the good ol slaaneshi tactic and army),
Dark Enchanters.


Using your naming converntion I think something like
Knights of Temptation might be ok(tailors just sounds ...wrong to me)
Zealots of Desire might be ok as well(combinded two of your ideas)

Hope that helps your creative process. Sometimes all it takes for me to get over a block is a few little suggestions along a different line and my breain fires up and gets going.

Yes! Thank you I didn't really like any of mine all that much either; they were too clunky. I think the mental block is loosening a little now, hopefully it won't stay around much longer.

The names here no offence but arent really suited for a csm army, but i could be wrong, thats just wat i think.

Could you provide examples of what you would consider CSM names? That would be much more helpful than "I don't like them".

The Slaanesh Inquisition. Nobody expects...

Chaos armies should always be chosen from two lists (randomly obviously), a prefix/adjective and then another adjective or noun with the word "the" in front of them.

With this method, and a d10, I came up with "Oozing Dakka" and "Spikey Bits." (both real results. Chaos guide my hand.)

Thanks guys I'm kinda liking Raging or Tempest which would cover the Slaanesh aspect of my army, but I'd like to have something Tzeentch like to go with it.

So something like:
Enchanting Tempest
Conniving Tempest
Raging Sorcerers
Raging Deceivers

But please, keep the suggestions coming

I find the thesaurus an excellent guide to finding names. I type in certain words that usually are found in 40k keywords that decribe my army and find a good pairing. It helped name my Apoc level Death Guard army - The Swarm of Torment
