Hey everyone,
I don't know much of the story line of Space Marines..... but do they have a base, or a "home building"??? If so, is it the Imperial Palace? I love doing Projects.... and wanted to build a "home base" for my Space Marine army. Here is a picture of my rough draft for the build. Do you think it looks alright or is there some kind of guidelines that i should be following for the design? still not done with it yet..... but this is what i got so far.....

There is an imperial palace on Terra, but it isn't exactly a home base for space marines. It's also way too big to be built. However, each chapter has it's own fortress monastery which could be any design you want.

Yup. Each Chapter has their own building.

The Emperor, of course, has his own palace as well.

I always pictured the Imperial Palace like the Forbiden City, a palace inside a palace that forms a city inside a city (in short really huge complex) with thousands troops (IG or SM?), functionaries of the goverment and assorted people running around.

custodes is to space marine as space marine is to guardsman.

I thought that pyramid was the imperiall palace.

I'd take the other dude's advice and do a fortress monastery; you get more customization that way. Nice artwork, though, looks awesome.

The artwork you've posted is Ace.
It will definitely work as the entryway to a fortree monestary.

There are a few VERY IMPORTANT steps you'll have to do (and DO NOT FORGET these steps).

First off, do NOT "free-hand" it. Create templates TO SCALE. That way, if you screw something up, you can always slap a template down and make another copy.

Secondly, convert those templates into files and post them here, so we can all copy that bad-azz piece of work you're going to have. : )

Third, post a tutorial and images as you create it.

Remember. All are very important steps. In fact, simply for posterity, the second is probably the MOST important.

I think so, but keep in mind it's essentially 'palaces' all the way up to 'planet'... The entire PLanet Earth is essentially the Imperial Palace and grounds. Chapels, memorials, offices, etc.

Good advice from MagickalMemories. I have to agree in that the design looks excellent. WIP pics would be appreciated but I know that would add more time onto an already time consuming project.

Love the design. But really make sure to emphasise the eagle in the design. Don't let it get drowned out with other detail and cool towers. The Imperium is renouned for making weapons, equipmnent and buildings out of symbols, so rather than an axe with the Ultramarine Symbol on it, it's an axe in the shape of the Ultramarine symbold. Rather than a door with an Imperial Eagle device on it, the door is an Imperial Eagle.

Your first pic captures that perfectly - the facade on the front is an imposing eagle. The second picture, although just a perspective shot of the first, makes the eagle look like it's been sandwiched between two parts of the wall. It gets lost amongst the second row of towers.

The eagle door should be the focus of the entryway, like in your first pic.

Otherwise it looks great. Really love to see this thing up and running.

Yeah, the Main Imperial Palace would probably be bigger in diameter than your house. If it was still on a 28mm scale.

Now THAT is an ambitious project. Like "The Sistine Chapel of Warhammer" type ambitious.

However, it would be within reason to create a sort of homeworld base of a Space Marine Chapter, which is probably more the scale you're looking for. As it is right now, this thing is looking awesome. Just don't forget the heavy bolter turrets.

Doesn't the Imperial Palace cover... y'know... Europe. How big would that be in 28mm scale?

a miniature the size of europe to scale would have to be 81875miles squared...

a miniature to scale the size of brazil would need to be 68491miles squared...

if someone did that, they would have my eternal respect...
