Really great work on these guys. Love the look of the bluish tentacles and how they match the bases.

Thanks, all. I'm just happy I've been able to keep my dark Mariners consistent. It's been a long time since I painted my last batch.

Tonight's update is a bit... weird? After posting a Plague Marine, Dark Mariners, Toughest Girls, etc, who would've expected me to post something as random as a Cephalyx and a dog?

Here's the Cephalyx controller from my Drudge set, finally painted. Maybe I'll actually finish up his other two Drudges someday.

My original idea for him was to use him as some kind of whacked out Magos Biologis, or a Dark Mechanicum Techpriest. The Magos Biologis idea really appealed to me, so I decided to go with sort of a surgeon scheme. In the Gaunt's Ghosts novels, they mention that the surgeons wear red scrubs, so I went with that here. Since I wanted a surgeon theme, he's gotta have some blood splatters on him, right? I'm pretty happy with how he turned out. I love how creepy looking the Cephaylx are.

Here's the other figure I painted tonight. an Alien-hunting Scotty from RBJ Games.

As you can see, he's caught himself an alien grub. This guy's a tiny little figure, so he was a breeze to paint. What took the longest with him was waiting for his base to dry.

Here you can see just how tiny he is.

I could always use more 28mm dogs. I think Empress makes a couple of 28mm Dachshunds. I should buy them.

Your mechanicus color scheme works well for the Cephalyx. Maybe you need more now? That big centipede Cryx caster would be an interesting one, despite the crazy price on it.

Doge came out good. Much fur. Such hunting skills. Wow.

No, I don't need more Cephalyx, even if I like them. I'm going to try and sell off the whole set once they're all finished.

Tonight, I did finish another Deepwars figure. This time, it's Marie Du Chatelet, a scientist for the Fortune Hunters.

That's actually, finally, three out of the five figures from the deluxe Fortune Hunter starter set I have finally finished!

Also completed were a pair of Unity Guards from Anvil Industries' Afterlife range.

Two new figures today. First, the metal USCR Commissar, from MERCS.

and Danu, Priestess of the Mother Goddess, from Celtos.

Because, what collection would be complete without a barely clothed, dancing priestess?

I got all excited when I saw Celtos in the heading, and am delighted to see it is one of my favorites. Great job!

It feels like I haven't finished anything in a while. I managed a batch of five this week.

First, the Everassur, from Cybertronic. I love this gorilla looking dude. He has so much junk bolted onto him. I'm amused by the fact that even if he were to stand upright, his arms would probably still touch the ground.

Next, I've had this Deadzone Reb sitting on my desk, primed for a while. Only problem was, he was missing his right arm. I have no clue where it went. Fed up with staring at him, I lopped off his other arm and scrounged up some new ones. The new arms came from, I think, an AE-WWII American officer. They're from an AE-WWII figure, regardless. Despite the trouble I get from gluing those figures together, the arms went on without a problem on this guy.

I should probably scrounge up a rifle to stick on his back though, that way he matches his stats.

Lastly, three Pox Walkers. These guys were fun to paint.

I bet they'd go real nice with my Plague. I think the fat one with the bone shards coming out of his bulbous arms is my favorite. he would really fit in with the Plague.

Really neat poxwalkers, you guys are all getting to the nurgle stuff and now I'm sorely tempted to buy in . I do like the middle guy the best of the three, but that might just be because he's modest and wears pants .

Reb figure came out great, but I do think he deserves an overly large rifle on his back like you suggested.

Reb does need a gun. I'll have to scrounge one up for him.

The dog is neat. RBJ also has a sitting version, minus the grub, but it only comes with an officer figure.

Here's today's update.

This is another Buffalo Powered Armor from AE-WWII. This guy is going to be my Counts-As Ogryn for Shadow War: Armageddon. This now completes my force since he was the only Spec-Ops unit I was missing.

I really hate GW's Ogryn. They just look too stupid. I wanted something that would also fit the diesel-punk vibe of my Guardsmen, so I figured some Weird War power armor would be a good stand-in for an Ogryn. The Incursion APE Suits would be perfect, but the one I have doesn't really fit the loadout properly and the other types are strangely expensive online. I lucked out and found another of the AE-WWII suits at the FLGS, so I knew I had to use that one.

The loadout on this one is the same that I used on my previous Buffalo, but the pose is different and I used a different color scheme. I used the same shade of green here that I used on the Guardsmen's armor. I figured it would be too bland though, so it needed a bit of pizazz, hence the checkerboards and hazard stripes. At least now having the bounty on Ogryns kind of makes sense, since my guys would be using some (for Guard) unusual tech for their heavy support. Non-Astartes power armor is weirdly rare in 40k, so I would imagine most forces would be interested in getting their hands on something like this.

The armor seems too thin on that model. Needs to be much rounder, which is no fault of yours.

Totally reminds me of a dorvak suit or one of the maschinen krieger suits.

So am I to assume you read the rules for Shadow War finally? Want to give it a try this weekend against my Necrons?

Tonight's update is Amelial, Herald of the Void. She hails from the Void faction of Relic Knights. Since this is a restic figure from the "Dark Ages" of restic, her details are kind of shallow and mold lines are everywhere. I'm pretty sure she's supposed to have an exposed mouth, but the detail there is so shallow, it just winds up looking like a smooth faceplate, so I painted it like a visor. Another imperfection with this figure is her sword. For the life of me, regardless of how much I tried heating it up, it just won't straighten out.

Despite those issues, I'm fairly pleased with my results. I got this figure along with a pile of other Relic Knights second-hand from Highlord Tamburlaine, who won it all in an auction. She was nearly complete, but was missing the little armor pieces that go on her wings. I had to shave the pegs off and clean them up a bit so they didn't look quite so off.

She's a neat figure though. Very dynamic. She'll go nicely with the pile of Void figures I'm getting from the second Kickstarter.

Also, tonight I finished those other two Cephalyx Drudges.

Yes, they still need basing. So do the other Drudges. I should have them all finished up by the time Brookhurst's next Bring 'n Buy comes around in August. Hopefully I'll be able to pawn them off on someone.

Amelial looks sweet. She has such a phenomenal design, but was indeed a little bit of a letdown in that material. Like most of KS1. Pity.

Yeah, you did good on that Relic Knight figure.

I remember what horrible shape those things were in- that's why I pawned them off on you in the first place!

I couldn't hack the blobiness of them!

A little bit of work and some bold highlights to make what details are actually there pop out really does a lot to make them more presentable.

I figure I'll go ahead and post this now, since I'll be on yet another house-sitting adventure for about the next week.

This is my Primaris Reiver test paintjob. Since they're supposed to be commando Marines, I thought it would be appropriate to go with a tacti-cool black scheme for his armor while keeping the full pauldron in the chapter's colors. I tried doing an edge highlight on this one, but I may wind up just doing regular old highlights on the other two. As for the green pauldron, my plan is go make my Primaris Marines Raptors. That way I can still use the green Space Marines and equipment I've already painted. There's no iconogrophy on his pauldron yet because I'll have to freehand it and I'm kind of too lazy to try right now.

I guarantee that I will be working on some more 8th edition stuff. This includes the new Dreadnought.

Awesome stuff lately. I like that Reiver scheme, looks great. I think I *need* the redemptor too. Not sure about the grav tank, or the characters (mostly cause expensive), but the rest of the primaris line is neat.

Well, I already got the Redemptor Dreadnought. It seems like it should be a pretty cool kit. It'll have to wait until after house sitting though. :(

The Reiver is from the First Strike box. I probably won't pick up the multipose box for a while.

That looks pretty cool. I had a similar idea to paint Reivers in a different scheme from the rest of the marines. Something darker, like your grey or a midnight blue. I don't know if I will keep the shoulders in chapter colors or not. Your guy has given me plenty to consider.

Realistically, I don't think they would even include their iconography. But, at the tabletop level, it's a good way to tie them into the force without having them merge into the rather homogeneous blob that the rest of the army would be.

I actually got to play some Age of Sigmar Skirmish today. Yeah, I actually played a game! That's a rarity. I played with highlord Tamburlaine, just as an introductory game to get the hang of the rules. I used four Stormcast Liberators and two Retributors against his Khornate stuff. Some Reavers, Blood Knights, and a Wrath Monger. Not bad. It actually seemed pretty easy and played quick. It felt a lot like the 8th Edition 40k rules in First Strike. I even managed to win a "minor victory" against Tamburlaine. A victory of any sort for me is rare, so that was nice. It definitely gets me in the mood to actually paint some more of my Stormcast. They'll have to wait though. Other stuff is in the queue right now.

I told him to bring the damned dread with him the other day and build it at my place, but he steadfastly refused until after his housesitting duties are done.

I told him to build it where he's staying, but no, he won't do that either.

I want to see the thing in person! Am I going to have to go out and buy my own now? I don't need one!
