Yeah, I got the mythos expansion and Dagon and felt they'd go nicely together.

The deep one looks amazing. Can't wait until they hit retail.

I also love all the various Astronaut Soldiers. The crisp white ones might have the most conventional color scheme, but they are my favorite so far.

I do wish I had Dagon, but, no room. He'd go nicely with my Dark Mariners, too.

So, I said I'd paint the hillbilly and the sea captain by the weekend. Well, I'm already done with both of them. The Dark Young, too.

Feast your eyes on the Dark Young.

Not as huge as you might think, but still pretty big.

And now, the best figures in my collection, a pair of old guys!

Yup. That hillbilly's got no shoes and a jug 'o moonshine. I love these figures. Their one "downside" is that they're actually kind of big. Like, these are closer to 35mm, big. That sea captain is bulkier and taller than most of my Morats. While they won't fit in well with most 28mm lines, they will fit in with Shadows of Brimstone. Possibly even Malifaux, though they'll be the bulkiest guys around.

Now that those three are done, I'm going to move onto some more Deep Ones and some metal stuff.

So is the hillbilly a tribute to the guy from swamp people who died a couple years back? And does the ship captain have a little buddy named Gilligan who he left on an island?

Weirdly enough, the hillbilly appears to be a resculpt of this figure.

And while there isn't a Gilligan in the set, there is what appears to be another sailor. An equally crusty, filthy, and drunken looking sailor.

I was home sick from work today, but I didn't let that stop me from getting in some painting time. I painted up one of my 28mm Kahnate Legionnaires. This one is an officer of some sort. I like how the 28mm versions have so much junk strapped to them. There's a slight casting imperfection with this figure though. His rebreather hose looks to have had an air bubble in it. Thankfully, it's not that noticeable or that bad. It's a cool figure though. I have two more of them to do. I feel like they would work well as Space Cops for Rogue Stars or something.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Just banged out a second Legionnaire tonight. This one is armed with a Maia smg and grenades. For some reason, he has a very different helmet from the rest of the line. I don't know what's up with that.

The last of my 28mm Khanate Legionnaires is now finished. This one is armed with a Hydra Laser Shotgun. Weirdly enough, this loadout seems to be missing in the 15mm line.

Up next, a couple more Deep Ones.

As promised, two more Deep Ones. Deep Ones who look like they just performed a magic trick, or something.

Much more interesting than them, though, I have finished one of my two 15mm Malig cavalry figures from Ion Age. These are Maligs riding Skrak Terror Birds, or, if you prefer, space goblins riding Chocobos.

And the full turnaround.

15mm has such funky stuff! The other Skrak will be done tomorrow night. Same rider, but the bird is in a running pose.

I think the Dark Young actually looks better in the photo than it does in person. One of the few times that's happened to me.

I finished up the other Skrak Terror Bird tonight.

Next, I am likely to be working on a Dark Mariner.

I like the space chocobos.

Definitely go for the Mariners next. Maybe we can finally play Deep Wars as intended!

If you ever get bored though you can always put the finishing touches on those portholes on the boat for me...

Nice work on the Khanate guys. I have a bunch of the Ion Age Levies/Conscripts, but only a few of those. I used to use them as servitors.

Now showing The Fellowship of the Ring, along with some Dreadball Captains!

Yeah the original version were 1/76 scale which allows for 15mm to work well with them. I want the 1/35scale ones to be part of my expanded Morat Aggression forces for the Supremacy

Hmm. Those Ma.K. kits seem too smooth and rounded for Morats. I expect them to have lots of hard edges and segmented armor.

The Deepwars KS has got me wanting to work on my remaining Dark Mariners. So, I finished the last of my metal Dark Mariners, the Vanguard Marine Heavy Gunner.

Cool figure, but I'm not terribly happy with how his base turned out. I am more or less pleased with how his crystal ammunition turned out though.

I've got a Death Guard model coming soon, so I'm going to work on him next, once he shows up. Once he's done, I'm going to work on more Dark Mariners and MERCS figures, among other things.

Dark Mariner looking good!

Oh I can adapt parts onto the Ma.K tanks, I will have to for weapons, and segmented armor parts, but their body armor of the new kind has rounded sections and all that.

Deep wars guy looking awesome . It's another of those games that never got enough traction to keep it going. Hopefully the new Kickstarter will get more interest in the game.

I got around to completing my MERCS House 4 Sapper.

I did a little modding on him. The prototype figure shown in promo materials has his shotgun aiming down, but the production figure has it aiming up, for some reason. I wasn't a fan, so I clipped the pegs on his arms and was going to go with the lower aim pose. Unfortunately, I didn't really like the way the stock arms looked. The shoulders were massive. So, I made the decision to mod him. I had some trouble looking for something that was vaguely shotgun like, but eventually wound up settling on some Mantic GCPS arms. I think they worked out pretty well. I'm even wiling to suspend my disbelief and say that he's got a shotgun. I know those mold lines look bad in the photos, but they're really not very noticeable in person.

Pretty good conversion. If you hadn't mentioned using Mantic arms, I wouldn't have even known it was a swap.

The arms fit well. What size is that base?

You need to paint four 'X's on that 'shine jug the hillbilly is carrying.

Red Harvest - the base is 30mm. All the MERCS figures use 30mm. And yeah, I know I need to add some Xs to the jug.

I'm really disappointed in how the pic made that House 4 guy's sculpt look all jagged and messed up in some spots. It really doesn't look like that in person.

I got my Noxious Blightbringer in the mail yesterday and got started on him today. While working on him though, I also painted up a random Toughest Girls Iron Empire trooper that was sitting primed and unpainted on my table.

I know, the colors don't match how I painted my previous Iron Empire figures. I was curious how my Prussian scheme would look on her and, as it turned out, I liked it.

Hoo wee! This guy took me longer than usual. I just finished up my Blightbringer on the 4th of July. He's a big fella, but somehow he still manages to be dwarfed by most of my Dark Mariners.

Now, I know he looks very green, but that wasn't what I was actually going for. I was trying to paint him up to go with the Weeping Legion. I have Vallejo colors that are very close to the ones used in the Warhammer TV tutorial, but for whatever reason, he turned out looking more green than the weird grayish tan he should've been.

I bet he's really noisy when he walks.

Well, Bell-Boy here is going to be it on Spess Mehreenz until Fist Strike comes out. Tonight I'm going to focus on painting a couple more Dark Mariners. Or, at least get them started. I might try working on a couple Afterlife figures as well, just for the hell of it.

Ask and ye shall receive! Dark Mariners are quite big. These two are both regular troops, too.

Here's some heavy support for my Dark Mariners. Technically, the Destroyer Biomech is from Shadowsea, but since all Dark Mariners are amphibious, I can use him in either game.

And here is the Cephalid Biomancer. I believe these guys are the ones who create the biomechs. I think you may need one to actually field them as well, but I'm not entirely sure about that.

You can also see the difference in lighting I get between taking photos in the daylight versus at night. I've got just one more Dark Mariner left in my collection that requires painting, and that's the Annihilator Biomech. I'll have a few new additions after the current Kickstarter delivers though.
