Who would beat the Avatar down from the following options based on codex stats during the course of the game? Who is the best pound for pound fighter (point for point that is).

1.Avatar versus Hive Tyrant at 160 points
2.Avatar versus Carnifex at 180 points
3.Avatar versus Marneus Calgar
4.Avatar versus Abbadon
5.Avatar versus Deamon Prince
6.Avatar versus Archon at 200 points
7.Avatar versus Ghazghkull

comparisons without taking upgrades and points into account is pointless. you wouldnt field your archon naked for example, just as you may give a carnifex different biomorphs.

as far as the characters you've listed go. they will all beat the snot out of an avatar, but they all cost a hunge amount more points.

dont compare things in a vacume, there is other stuff going on that you have to take into account.

If this is pure meloe, then I think the only one the avatar could beat is a greater deamon. This is only if it is the generic greater deamon from the Chaos Marines codex and NOT from the Deamons codex. The nightbringer could beat the snot out of two avatars without blinking, and oly takin one or two wounds in the process. After all he outshoots them, and out fights them.

i have beaten samuel [SM leader guy on last jetbike, dark angels i think] in 1 round of combat with just me avatar, didnt even take a wound back, ever since then the guy i faced has never used him again lol

One of me friends has Ghaz and i have killed him in 2 rounds of combat and only took one wound in return, he still fields him but like to shoot me avatar like a grot now.

I cant speak for the rest, but BloodDeathAssualt [jeremy] has just purchased abbadon and wish to try my luck [but i have just sent my avatar off in a trade so i'll have to proxy, it wont feel the same but the maths will still be right]

yea those things are terrors in CC. thats why when fighting monster killers like that, you sit back and blast the living hell outta them. a devastator squad with some lascannons will make sort work of anything monstrous.

I once killed the Avatar with an Imperial Guard standard bearer does that count?

So you beat a S4 T4(5) model with 3 wounds in CC with an Avatar? You don't say! Seriously, how did you catch a jetbike that moves twice as fast as you (4 times as fast if he turboboosts)? Did he actually charge you? If so, you need to teach your opponent some tactics.

No, its only AV 14 on the front and sides. Back is still AV 10.

The Avatar should be able to kill about half of those things. I mean, I have seen Fire Warriors take down a Bloodthirster in Close Combat before. Anything could happen.
