This is the most detailed and hardest model I've ever painted. But it is now finished 7 days later. I estimate around 20 hours was spent on this figure. Testament to why I hate showcase painting. Takes too long and little to show for all the effort. Armies in my opinion are more fun and just as impressive as showcase.

That is quite a stunning mini. I especially love the free hand work on both books. May I ask how you got such a deep goldern color? Usually gold is so bright and glaring I avoid painting it like the plague but I really like how you painted yours.

yeah they break the model up nicely. Makes all that detail a bit more manageable.

The gold is done using vallejo game colour metallics. If I remember correctly...

Bright bronze
citedal Flesh ink + black ink
Glorius gold
Mithril silver
Citedal gryphonne sepia wash.

Well, after seeing this, it's hard to agree with you, although I'd reckon your more economic army paint schemes look good as well. This is a testament actually, to why you should at least paint one once and a while.
Great work. Looks as amnazing as the ones they used to print in White Dwarf (why DID they stop printing Golden Demon winners in White Dwarf anyway?).

well tbh... librarian armor in every chapter is supposed to be blue. if this had the logo taken off, it could just as easily be any chapter...

it does look good. i personally hate you for making that yellow come out so nicely.

Nice work Gareth, the most impressive thing with your painting is not just the extreme prolificness of it, but the fact that you always get such consistent perfect colouring, it really makes the overall army effect look fantastic. I remember seeing your colossal nid force on TWF and being very impressed.
The yellow is a lovely compliment to the blue and it's great to see someone not shy away from it.

No one mentioned the NMM effect! I don't think I have ever seen regualr marine armor(not demonhunters or some other metaly chapter) done with NMM style. It looks spectacular!

Um..actually he mentioned he used metalics in the gold. And those key's on the front are def. metalics. Still great work regardless.
