Jiggaboo Jones should totally play Warhammer.
He would make all of the other cheaters look pathetic.
Or more pathetic I guess.

Anuvver fing - when they do sumfing, they try to make it look like somfink else to confuse everybody. When one of them wants to lord it over the uvvers, 'e says "I'm very speshul so'z you gotta worship me", or "I know summink wot you lot don't know, so yer better lissen good". Da funny fing is, arf of 'em believe it and da over arf don't, so 'e 'as to hit 'em all anyway or run fer it.

feth me dead. I know people can do that, but seeing it in action is a different story. How much of that kind of capability is due to using casino dice? Can you do the same drops with GW or Chessex?

One thing, though. Outside of leadership tests, I never find my self throwing just two dice. Show me someone who can throw 8 dice at once and do that kind of gak.

WoW he's good, I couldn't do it.

And whilst you're pointing and shouting at the boogeyman in the corner, you're missing the burglar coming in through the window.

Well, Duh! Because they had a giant Mining ship. If you had a giant mining ship you would drill holes in everything too, before you'd destory it with a black hole

Him and that guy who dressed up like a dreadnought in the LARP thread.

Keep in mind that he's very good, and can do this *very* fast, much faster than you would expect. He's a street hustler. If he screws up and gets caught, someone probably kicks his ass.

He's using casino dice because they're *harder* to work with. He can use pipped dice, and can feel the pips, so they can "set" the dice blindly. He's doing finger rolls, so the key is that they're larger dice, so he can control precisely how fast & far they roll / drop down his fingers.

He can probably do any of this with large Chessex dice, in fact, their manufacturing precision probably helps him, because they will roll more consistently. Same with Casino dice.

He can pull this stuff with 1, 2, or 3 dice, because those are the games he plays in. When you think about rolling 1s and 2s of dice, I can think of:
- Leadership (2 dice, always)
- Reserves (you can roll 1 or 2)
- Heavy / Special Weapon shooting (Las & Plas; doubletap Plasma; twin Dark Lances)
- Special CCWs (2 PF attacks)
- roll to-wound vs characters
- character saves on assigned wounds
- AP rolls vs tanks

The number of ways you can use this to control most of your key dice is very powerful when you really think about it.

And the same principles hold for Scatter / Artillery Dice. If one controls the Scatter Die, or the Scatter distance, that's pretty useful, right?

OK, true. Points, points, points. Next time I'll engage brain before fingers. Thanks. I just think of all those times I have a double fist full of casino dice to roll for hits on a charge, and think about doing "straight drops", and laugh to myself. However, you are quite correct, JHDD.

Here's a related question:

I've seen those towers for dice rolling, and personally I think they are a little too cutesy and a little too big, not to mntion that their flowrate is way too low. Anyone know of similarly-purposed constructs that are a little less cutsey and a little more functional? Yeah, I'm googling, but any personal experiences you can relate one way or the other on specific products you have used would be appreciated.

Not tryin to hijack your thread JHDD.

But no really that is kind of funny. Makes me worried. I play a habitual cheater a lot.

That guy is funny. Nice find on the video. Who cares if you can only do it with 2 dice or even just one for that matter its enough to skew the odds in your favor. Take two equally skilled players and let one set one die every roll and see who wins....

Put the dice in a cup. Cover the end with one palm. Give the cup a jolly good shaking. Spill the dice out into a box so they bounce. The size of the cup needs to be increased for larger dice or bigger numbers of dice.

The problem with 40K is sometimes you want to throw a lot of dice at one go. The trick shown in the video is to let the dice rattle in the hand, which makes them sound like they are rolling around, but the hand is kept closed enough to prevent the dice turning over. It's easier to do with larger dice. The same thing happens (not deliberately) if the hand is too full of dice. If I have to roll more than 2-3 dice I cup both hands together to get a larger shaking volume.

I'm writing a load of fiction. My latest story starts here... This is the index of all the stories...

What he said.

The only "advantage" that casino dice offer is that because they have the sharp edges, they don't roll as much and give you more control.

Chessex dice, while they have rounded corners and will roll more, also give you the "rolling blind" advantage, which will make your opponent less suspicious.

Just remember, this guy does this for a living. You won't find anyone this good across from you at a tournament, ever. It is far too lucrative for a good dice mechanic to be working on the street than to be wasting that time playing with toy soldiers.

Unless this is their hobby..... Most of the people on here have day jobs, why would a dice cheat be any different?

Which part? The one about people on here having jobs, or the idea that a dice cheat might decide to play a dice based game? Both seemly equally likely/unlikely....

Yeah, it must be fake, because you can't do it.

Tell you what.

If you're so sure this guy is a fake, go into the inner city with a bankroll and tell them you want to play dice against "the best". Play for twenties ($20 bucks a throw), and make them call their points. They will take your money so fast, your head will spin.

Get somebody to video it, and post it up.

Just don't short the shooter.

Unless you're willing to post the video of them kicking your ass 8 ways to Sunday!

First off, the man is the definition of a walking brain fart.

Second... this is the oldest trick in the book. If you watch the video closely, you'll notice that there are 2 6's, 2 7's & 2 8's in the initial set up. Okay? Cool. Fine.
Now, after he picks up the cards & does some fast hand movements, you'll notice a brief SKIP in the film. This is where the camera was turned off, then back on.
Now, he puts one card away, shows you the remaining cards and... BAM... your card is GONE!!!!

Amazing, huh?

Notice the remaining cards, though? None of them are the same SUIT as they originally were.

Watch the video again. Pause it when they FIRST show the cards, then pause it again when they show them the 2nd time.
Write down the #'s and suits of the cards in each image. They won't match.

Tell me if I'm right or wrong.

Eric

You have got to be kidding me. This is fake, and I don't mean to say the ability to cheat at dice rolling. I mean this guy. If you watch the dice video, it's obvious he did the vocals after filming because:

1) There is no echo to his voice (like the echo when he talks to the camera at the end).

2) at 01:08 he leans in for the dice and his mouth isn't moving, but he's apparently talking a mile a minute.

Guys, if you don't like his video, it's not like there aren't others out there... I picked him as the example because he's fun to watch. But it's not like there isn't dice manipulation and it can't be done.

I used to work in downtown New Orleans for a couple of years and I can tell you from RL observation of the stuff that went on outside of where I worked that if you take a bankroll to the inner city and start flashing it, it'll be gone so fast your head will spin alright.

Dice will definitely not be involved in it being taken, however.

If you don't undersand the difference between someone hustling dice on the street and someone who works a 9-5, I really don't think I'm able to help you.

Also, way to completely misunderstand my point. 2/10 on the troll effort. See me after class.
