There should be no need as the answer is right there. Or rather it's not right there, as there is no option for them to purchase Jump Packs.

So, to the OP, no.

now the question is answered this is a waste of a thread, why dont we discuss the effectiveness of honour guard if the OP doesnt mind?

Honor Guard are dead hard but I would rather have a command squad on bikes with lightning claws and storm shields.

Not everybody is familiar with "RTFM"...oh well

I think honour guard are a garbage unit. No invulnerable saves, almost as expensive as a CC terminator...
If they could all take storm shields, then MAYBE I would consider them a good choice. However they can't, making them much too fragile.

A unit of 10 of them costs what 360 points, and puts out 31 power weapon attacks. Coming out of a land raider, and combined with a chaplain and a librarian though with force dome though... That there is pretty nutty. Ignore the fact that for roughly the same price you could have 10 CC terminators with lightning claws that are 1/3rd more survivable vs power weapons at the cost of 40 points and 10

TBH I think they should have given these guys all weapon skill 5 or something, with the chapter champion WS6... They're good, but theyre fragile. Far too fragile. They seem to just be one of those showcase units for new players; a shiny unit that's super cool on paper that has to be replaced once the player starts to learn how to play properly. I must admit, the HG models are pretty amazing.

a unit of 10 hg puts out 41 attacks on the charge, 2 base +1 charge +1 for two weapons, and if you buy the standard bearer for 25 pts then the unit puts out 51 attacks, thats pretty nutty, and they have artificer armour

YO DAKKA DAKKA!

Every noob with Space MArines, who only has friends with Space Marines, just wants as many power weapons as he can get.

Take-all-comers they are not. They're hardly flexible at all.

That is largely by design. C: SM has terribly overpriced CC capabilities, which is why it's much weaker than any of the HtH-oriented MEQs.

Plus they count as having done an extra wound for resolution. Team that with the Chapter Master and you've got some sweeping advances in the making.

I've recently been running this (though only 5 HG instead of 10, Chapter Champion inclusive) with the Chapter Master accompanying in a Razorback.

Not the most flexible unit of course, but they've never failed to kill whatever I point them at. The real question is: do they earn their points back? They have 1 of 4 four times fielded for me thus far.

I use mine every once in a while. No, they don't directly "earn their points back," but they are a reasonably-decent assault unit. Maybe they aren't as good as Assault Termies... but I don't HAVE any Assault Termies!

To me, they're just decadent fun, like an expensive dessert. Of course they're not cost-effective, yadda yadda yadda. They have a lot of amusing, goofy rules, and they can kill just about anything. I just hide mine in a Land Raider until it's time for them to charge something. They're a fun little unit, with cool models, and cool rules. I'm not a "noob" or whatever, I just like to mix it up a little bit. The fact that HG are overpriced just makes it that much more exciting.

This also makes them a great distraction while the rest of your army cleans up, especially on objective games. The enemy is busy trying to kill your big expensive unit, giving you time to move troops into holding positions.

So it seems to me anyhow.

This CAN work, depending on how the enemy is equipped. If he has plenty of AP2 / power weapons, your expensive distraction won't earn its keep. If he really has to work at it, 2+ can be a tough nut to crack.

I guess for friendly games, where most of your friends play MEQ and you're looking for a cool looking display unit that will tear some up on the field. For an even remotely competitive army though, HG have no place. There are better units out there for the points, and unless you're looking for more CC ability and have run out of FoC spots there's really no reason to take them over anything else. At a certain point, units like this become TOO killy, rape anything they are thrown against, then get torn apart by return fire.

I mostly play friendly, though not against MEQ, primarily.

For an assault unit they don't really have a easy transport into combat option , you would think theyd get a landraider but noooooo

If I lose it is because I had bad luck, if you win it is because you cheated.

the coolest option I thought honour guard had when I first read the book was that every one of them can get an auxiliary grenade launcher, but realistically it's not all that great for them.

Interceptor Drones can disembark at any point during the Sun Shark's move (even though models cannot normally disembark from Zooming Flyers).
