Yep, after buying two 8.00$ white dwarfs I've decided its not worth it. A while back a thread went up where I said I would contiune to buy them. I can honestly say that I get more enjoyment out of dakkadakka and podcasts like D6 generation, then the ever thiner mag that I picked up today. Well, no more. I would rather have a new box of minis every few months then the three White Dwarfs that I'll never read again. So to all the people I disagreed with a few weeks ago, I'd like to say you guys were right and I humbly join your anti-WD ranks

As you say it's more money to spend on toys. You can always start buying it again if it ever picks up again. I've been waiting since WD #303.

yeah, I suppose I'll just keep an eye on them and pick one up if it gets better, but my days of mindless buying are over.

The last time I bought a WD was when the "NEW" rules for Tau pathfinders w/ Railrifles came out. That was years before the most recent codex.

Yeah, pretty pictures. . . but not much else.
If they used it to put out useful non-competitive rules or small couple-page fluff write-ups or had scenarios or just brought the magazine, well back to the late 80s early 90s format... I'd pay $10 a month. You something I could sink my teeth into for an hour and a half. but as is I'd rather not pay for their advertising space to be advertised too.

Heh, I know, I know, it must have been shock for the first one, and I'm sure the price of it had been brewing in the back of my mind over the last few weeks. Then I picked up the newest one and I kinda snapped. I spent a good chuck of the day ranting eight freaken dollars of this!! So yeah...

Ever seen someone with advanced scurvy?

Edit: I have a pic, but it's super inappropriate.

Actually no, I haven't. I assumed it was an all-but-defeated disease.

Not really, just rather easily cured nowadays and incredibly preventable if you live in a first world country.

As for white dwarf, I have only been getting since last year, and while yah it seems like a magazine catalogue hybrid its not all that bad in my opinion. Plus who doesn't like pretty pictures?

(Oh and they had Rules for Grombrindal which was rather cool, and Harry the Hammer not that far back. And rules for two Ringwraiths in the current issue as well? Whats wrong with it?)

I just can't get over what they've done to the rules.

YO DAKKA DAKKA!

Warpcrafter, you play Nurgle and Orks, though, right? Plague Marines are still great. Typhus is stupid good. 4+ cover everywhere makes them all stupid, STUPID good.

WD sucks, but is obsolete anyway. It was great, warm and fuzzy, like a venerable dwarf should be, and the bad photos were accompanied by nice, personal narratives from region-specific editorial teams.

Now we just have the internet for bad photos and ranting, as well as checking out upcoming releases, the advantage of being able to discuss things with the community.... WD died long ago.

True line of sight, wound allocation nonsense. The 4th edition rules for terrain sizes and torrent of fire were as close to perfect as GW is capable coming. Why oh why did they have to screw it up?

Damn it, I was hoping I could be the one to point out the obvious.

It only took one issue for me.

My issues with the White Dwarfs are as follows:
- The new army of the month is the one that always wins the battle report.
- The armies used in the battle report are fluffy, not what is actually played by most players.
- No clarifications
- Rarely are official rules published
- And the biggest for me, too much LotR crap
