No rules, but you can hear to Jes Goodwin saying he's halfway through the plastics. They say DE are not coming anytime soon (the wondrous 3 months window) but since plastics design usually start about 18 months before final army release we can probably expect sightings of DE around summer next year. Or maybe GD 2009.

Plastic developement STARTS 18 monts out. So, if he is half-way done with the plastics then the codex should be release in about 11 months?

damn, and I was still clinging to hope that they would be out a bit sooner, still I suppose we seem to have guard coming up next based on rumours and then most people said wolves after that, which would make what 8 months or so we would be due for a new release maybe a bit more, so it may be lining up properly, still it's good that they are finally doing something other than thinking about rules, cause once they have these plastics set up we probably wont be getting told "1 more year" edit: I was wondering is there a place I can dig up GW models by author to find out what exactly Jes Goodwin has worked on lately. edit2: He gives a 1 to 2 year estimate in the podcast, this is after saying he really has no solid info on a release date, but he would have an idea on how long his stuff will take so expect a 1 year wait at minimum :(

JohnHwangDD wrote:The DE are still in limbo, and I still think the DE are going to get Squatted, eventually. That's what the evidence strongly suggests.
Every year, rumors pop up saying that DE are "in progress" and will return as an uber army like the WFB Wood Elves. The latest was that Jes Goodwin was making new minis (*not* the Eldar Jetbike or Juan Diaz' test Haemonculi). None of these rumors offer the slightest shred of proof, so this appears to be more wishful thinking than anything else.
It'd be nice to see whether the GW still cares about the DE, but it sure doesn't seem like it. Pity, really.
GW Podcast wrote:Jervis: "I'd just like to ask you what projects you are working on currently that you can tell us about and what kinda things are you looking forward to doing in the future."
Jes: "Well its not the much of a secret, its Dark Eldar next. I'm half-way through doing plastics for those."
Not a secret to anyone -- except maybe DD.

Yeah it's good, you wouldn't have your top sculptor putting months of work into a race just to crush it, so this is great news in terms of confirming that it's coming, but god I'm sick of "maybe next year" with them.
I'm pretty sure I've seen him quoted as saying he had the new raider sitting in his office a few months back, And the new artwork has the warriors looking a bit different so I reckon those two and the jetbike are a given, what else can we expect in plastic though?

You know, after 10 years in the making (has it been that long, I was still at the University then), this should be the greatest Codex ever. I wonder what 10 years of games design does to a S3, AP6, 24" Range Rapid Fire Weapon?

Splinter weapons are already AP 5.
Only change in the splinter rifle I have heard is that it would become an Assault weapon. Sort of like a longer range, lower strength shuriken catapult.

Nah, poison is the new rending. Check out the amount of troops that have access to hellfire rounds in the Space Marine Codex.

So, there might be something to this after all. Tho, if it's December 2008 that Jes is working on plastics development, then I think we're probably looking at a Q4 2009 / 1H 2010 release. Assuming GW doesn't "push it back" or delay it again, as has happened so many times before... ____ As for that plate of crow, I'm happy to chow down, but first GW's going to have to print an actual Codex that I can hold in my hands!

Well he says they're half way through development. That says to me they're about 7-8 months off. 5 months to complete final designs, 2-3 to produce the neccesary supply for release.

Orks waited close to a decade and they got a great codex, DE waited over a decade and now will have the most broken army in the game. Or so most of us Dark Kin hope so.

This is both a very gracious and a very understandable position to take.
As much as I wanted to send you a big, fat when I read this thread, I chose to contain myself, because I, too, have learned to only believe that GW is going to actually do something when I see it sitting for sale at my FLGS.
