Unless it's Battlewagon Bitz, which doesn't seem to understand the whole 'market forces' thing.

H.B.M.C.:

You're talking about the Warstore when you say Battlewagon Bitz, right?

Yes, but the pricing problems with BWB started before they moved to TheWarstore.

Okay. Sorry to hassle you, but you've got my curiosity. I started buying bits from Battlewagon Bits when they were their own company, and have continued after their move to the Warstore. I'd tailed off recently given that the stuff they have that I like is usually sold at move competitive prices elsewhere, but I still find their bits-exchange thing to be handy since you can buy the box with the stuff you need and then dump the bits you don't on the warstore in exchange for more stuff you want.

What do you find to be their pricing problems?

In general:

I realized I should mention Apocabitznow.com - I found out about them through a banner ad on Warseer and I've done very well by them.

Supply & demand is the problem. Actually, you said it yourself:

"I'd tailed off recently given that the stuff they have that I like is usually sold at move competitive prices elsewhere."

The prices at BWB don't reflect supply and demand like other bitz services. Their prices haven't changed since moving to TheWarstore. A perfect example is the Assault Cannon bit, which was highly sought after and now isn't since the new Marine Codex came out. Has the price changed? Nope. Still the same huge price it always was. Now you could say that the Marine Codex has only been out for a month or so, but consider that we knew for a few months prior that that change was going to happen, that 2-AssCannon Command Squads were going the way of the Chaos Legions, and that that particular bit was going to lose a lot of its perceived value once the changes hit. But nothing has changed.

And this is reflected in other parts as well. They're not alone - WookieHole and TheWarLord.com still charge large prices for things like the Assault Cannon (although atleast TheWarLord.com gives you two for that price), but BWB pricing has never been fantastic.

I don't think it is Neal's fault - chances are he just put everything up when he took over and has other bigger things on his mind than repricing all hits bits. But as long as places like Bitz & Kits exist, there's always a better alternative to BWB.

I will also mention that I haven't used their Bitz trading service, so I can't comment there. Maybe that improves things a bit.

Actually, I think their prices have changed on occasion. I've noticed that the cost of Possessed Wings seems to have fluctuated between a usurious $12 per bit (might as well by the set and get everything else), down to $8 per bit.

In terms of getting the bits I need for the best price possible, nothing comes close to beating my experience in trading directly with fellow fans on Dakka and Warseer though.

I tend to go hunting for strange and rare pieces. I managed to find a site on eBay that gets the most random bits.

Managed to pick up a complete old-style metal Hormagaunt off that site (which is good, because now I have 12 and I hate having odd numbers of things), and a stack of old Ripper Swarms, which make great critters in Necromudna. Plus a Techmarine Axe and Servo Arm, for a converted Techmarine I'm doing. Odds and ends like that, which, sadly, we have to do thanks to GW's bitz service (or lack thereof).

Have you tried Bartertown?

It's done very well for me.

I've looked around Bartertown a fair bit, but I've never found anything I actually wanted.

Oftentimes you have to post what you want, and bitz traders will come out of the woodwork.

Trust me, no matter what damage they have the potential to do, single-shot weapons always flatter to deceive in 40k.                                                                                                       Rule #1
