Got it from THE WARSTORE for a touch over $50, delivered!

I'm in!

Can't wait to get it, get my airbrush setup too, and then feel totally inadequate!

But, we all already feel inadequate next to the Master, don't we, Alpharius?

Practice helps... I'm upping my painting game slowly. Airbrushing certainly speeds some things up.

Is the book going to only be about air brushing? I am very interested in the book but I worry it'll just be air brushing, air brushing and nothing but air brushing.

I always get mildly annoyed when a tutorial starts out listing paints, okay, then what spray to use, okay, then they whip out an airbrush, not okay, because I don't have an airbrush. :V

Oh... now I kind of want the book. I've got a top-shelf airbrush but bottom rung skills. Still... watching a bunch of youtubes would probably help just as much without tying up the monetary resources.... Hmm Hmm. Darn ,that puts me from not interested to potentially interested.. drat.

Shoot, I suppose it would be handy and the mini is -very- pretty, but I doubt I'd get much use of it if it were only air brushing.

If you want the mini, then just order the book and get the mini.

It would be cheaper than finding the model on eBay.

There's a book/mini swap shop type thread down in Infinity General I think could try there

I'm pretty sure that Angel does a fair amount of brushwork on every mini too!

It's a store owner who splits boxes. Certain things do not get split anymore because he cannot sell the other items.

Maybe, but his step by steps have been explicitly airbrush.

No I didn't mean Cho Konnit, someone started a Angel Hiraldez book/model swap shop thing.

Yeah I started the thread because I saw several players talking how they only wanted one or the other, so I wanted to help centralize the search.

And yes Angel does do some brush work, ABs are awesome for most applications, but they still can not handle the super fine details such as eyes and such.

Angel has explicitly stated that you cannot paint a whole mini with only an airbrush. Of course he does brushwork, and all his step-by-steps have traditional brushwork as well.

I can't argue over the lack of tabard but the CHH (Combat High Heels) have been upgraded to CW (Combat Wedges) so maybe there is a slight improvement there.

And as for the "Tactical Midriff" I can buy it as she is meant to be hyper mobile she would need to be able to bend at the waist, and she has enough Ab Plates to deflect those pesky bullets with a good flex of her core body muscles.

Ah, no, I was really talking more about the trend in Infinity female models more that in this specific case. I mean, the midriff in this case at least have myomers!

CB loves it's cheesecake, but most of those points are most certainly not true. All the PanO HI has that same "tactical midriff" of flexible plates, even the original ORC trooper, and not all of the knights have full tabards, the most recent example being the Father-Knight who only has a tabard from the belt down. Indeed, assuming all of the female ORC armor has tactical combat wedges and boob-plates (and the old ORC HMG/shotgun models had both) this new Joan model looks to be wearing new ORC armor modified to have a tabard on the front, a cut down left shoulder pad and a few crosses on the vambraces and chestplate, and no backpack.

In fact it's so close I wonder it it isn't going to be a base model for a new ORC HMG/Boarding Shotgun in the near future

As I said, I was thinking about the other CB minis in that comment, but I guess I could have explained myself better.

I was answering to this:

Joan of Arc is female. Any cloth on the chest would block the boob-plate, and thus is a no-no for CB.

...and specifically, to the bolded part.

And even then, except for the tactical midriff, she got the boobplate and the CHH...

Arguing about combat heels and cheescake in Infinity seems...odd.

Arguing about it in the News and Rumors thread, when we have a nice selection of INFINITY Sub-Forums here on Dakka Dakka?

Not cool.

Um... not true. He uses traditional painting once he gets his base colors down.

They also struggle to make sharp lines which is why he still needs to put in brush time, alot of it in fact.

That's why I brought it around to talking about the armor itself and how close it is to female ORC armor. Seems highly possible to me that the digital Joan model is going to be the base for a digital ORC HMG/shotgun resculpt

According to the video, the book is not only about airbrushing. It specifies glazing, washing, NMM... so...

Just look at his facbook guide. He explains what is highlighted, glazed, etc. The Ko Dali mini I recall specifically that the red 'technoflesh' parts and such were inked. Of course it's not all airbrushed.

For the Kun Rider step by step that was on BoW, he airbrushed the bike to get the smooth nmm look, the rider was entirely painted with a normal brush.

Airbrushes are great to get the model started but you will always need a brush to paint at the level Angel does.

Seems that the book is sold out of Warstore and Miniatures Market. Can no longer find the listings on those sites. Firestorm Games explicitly states it's out of stock. Wayland Games has it still, it seems.

On an Express Elevator to Hell!!

Element Games are now also saying 'out of stock' so looks like their allocation has gone as well.

I have to say though.. I just can't believe that, if this sells out as quickly as it looks like it has, that this book will never get a re-print.

I don't work in publishing, but I can't imagine that repeat runs would be anything like the cost of an original, considering the work and costs that have gone into making the book in the first place? Someone who does know might want to correct me on that.

You're going to get a lot of non-Infinity players getting this book, Angel's work has reached across the wargaming industry, to the point where you have to say most 'serious' hobbyists and modellers/painters are aware of his work. You would have to think more than 2000 customers globally!

It's easy to say that, but it might not have sold that well if it wasn't limited edition.

Yikes!

I couldn't find it on Miniature Market so I went ahead and ordered it via The Warstore.

I'm really glad I did!

I never saw it listed on Miniature Market, and I've looked every day this week. Not sure they ever listed it.

Can anyone out there say they ordered through Miniature Market?

Correct. I work for a printing company. It's a completely production ready item that is simply fed to a printer that can print on the stock needed to the quality needed, then get it bound to printed covers. The costs are all in the production side. It's a very easy thing to send through a second print run from a design/IT perspective.

However, as said, the consideration might not be cost of the print run. The fact that it's limited edition, and has an equally limited edition miniature, will have been huge selling points, particularly to people buying it with the intention of reselling for profit, at least the book if they bought it for the miniature. Once a second run is done, it's no longer limited edition, and might not sell as well, and the miniature won't be there either.

Miniature Market never posted it, but the retailers could have took it down since it was not suppose to go on order till the 2nd, so I would check around again then.
