OK, I've established I love the new gallery and I'm using it a lot, so this is meant to be helpful.

Scroll wheels - I use the wheel on my mouse to scroll through pages but when the pointer is on an image it starts zooming. I think zoom should NOT be activated by the scroll wheel.

Renaming galleries - since most galleries are named for the original thread I have to go in and move items one by one to a new gallery, is there a way to bulk move them or rename a gallery?

Moving galleries and saving - can saving the gallery be part of the other edit functions? right now changing galleries and saving takes me to a new screen then I must navigate back to make other changes.

Bulk tagging - Is there a way to tag multiple images at once?

tag list - is there a way to get a list of all the tags in use?

Scrolling through images - when rating images the same ones keep coming up, sometimes twice in a row. Can it be made more random or can a 'random image' option be added?

This will probably not change as the standard (google earth, microsoft maps, etc) is to allow the mouse wheel for zooming in as well, and I tend to browse that way. To prevent the scroll wheel from activating, just have the cursor to the left or right of the image before you use it. It takes about 3 days to get used to it from what I have learned speaking to people about it

Galleries stuff sucks a bit at the moment and a lot of tweaks, updates and new functions will be in place hopefully by the end of January.

When you initially upload an image to the gallery (which then allows you to embed it in the wiki or forums), you can select 'these images are related' which will then let you batch tag them all. Some more tagging tweaks are planned for the near future too, but hopefully the problem will iron itself out as more users use the gallery.

Kid_Kyoto wrote:

Not really, and other than curiosity there is not really a reason for it. Any tags that are similar or related will get joined together by a mod or admin (eg; all 40k becomes warhammer 40,000 automatically). A full list might be added later but it is pretty low on the priority list at the moment.

Yeah this is a known (and major) annoyance which will be sorted out by the end of Jan hopefully.

Thanks for the feedback!

I don't seem to be getting much in the way of views. Is that because my gallery number is in the 6000's?

It is because there are 12000+ images in the gallery and right now they are all less than 1 month old. As time goes on views will be distributed more evenly. You could always link to your images to encourage people to view them specifically as well. Views will also increase when we finish optimising the voting process (should all be done by the end of Jan)

YO DAKKA DAKKA!

Currently 1105 in Australia (GMT +10), Dakka is running smoothly and quickly as usual... except for all and any gallery links (other than the pictures, which obviously aren't part of the gallery code anyway), which hasn't been responding since 1052.
I really wanted to put up a picture before I went to work... :(

EDIT: Back now, worksfine, just thought I'd mention it as lego and yak were online at the time.

The gallery has about 10 minutes a day where it runs very very slowly due to a few bugs that will be fixed over the next few weeks. I'm well aware of them and am sorting them out one by one.

YEah,
I love the Gallery.

Legoburner is there a way to have selected galleries opt out of the voting?

I'm thinking of my WIP galleries and galleries created from old posts that people would rather forget about ect...
Also when I do a BatRep I'm adding 30 (lower quality) images that I'm sure browsing voters don't want to see... (sorry guys!)

oh and thanx for the unsubscribe button! I like that too.

Panic..

See this thread for updates.

Basically as soon as fairly unrelated images get 5 votes, and have an average less than 3 they will drop out of the random viewing list. This is a bit of a pain still, but hopefully with enough people voting we can get to the point where the gallery takes on a whole new level of awesome.
