yesterday my order of battalion arrived , happily i started putting together
my chaos hounds.

but..... no matter what i do there seem to be a rather
noticeable gap between the 2 main halves. has this happend
to anyone else's chaos hound? or im just awful at gluing ><

another question i want to ask was, the glue i use for plastic is
Testor plastic cement , granted this is the best plastic glue ihave used
as it melt the 2 plastic together BUT

it smells so bad, is it really bad for my health? this morning i woke up
i thought i had runny nose then i looked, i had nose bleed all over my pillow and blanket.
im worried it might be related to smelling too much bad fumes ><

sometimes melting the 2 plastics together is bad as its hard to just snap out, and it prolly is taking a toll on your health. just use super glue, its just as good, easy to handle, and probably not so bad on your health

Make sure you've got adequate ventilation, a fan blowing across your workspace and an open window should be enough, otherwise buy a proper respirator with organic vapour cartridges.

I did not have any gaps or other problems with my chaos hounds. The hound bodies do have specific left & right sides- they are not exactly interchangeable. Make sure that you haven't tried to put a left 'A' body with a right 'C' body, or something. (But you'd probably notice right away, as the heads would be wonky.)

I doubt your nosebleed was caused by glue fumes. Dry winter air seems a more likely cause.

He's got a mind like a steel trap. By which I mean it can only hold one idea at a time;
it latches on to the first idea to come along, good or bad; and it takes strenuous effort with a crowbar to make it let go.

Don't use superglue on plastic as has been suggested. It can easily shatter.

And yes it probably is harmfull, in the uk you cant buy it unless your over 18 due to solvent abuse.

Well, don't use superglue in poorly ventilated places either. I use superglue on plastic all the time and don't have a problem with it, but plastic glue will hold it better.

Are you using a tube of the gel-type stuff or the stuff in the jar that you paint on with a brush? I find the brush on stuff to be cleaner to use for small models like these.

And yeah, while the fumes are bad, the bloody nose probably isn't related to it. Any future brain damage is, though.

Fair enough if you prefer it but it's advisable not to. I generally don't like using superglue where I haven't added pinning or there isn't a large surface area connecting the two pieces. As the tiniest drop can ruin your model.

Nope - plastic cement and superglue are two very different beasties. But there's different types of plastic cement that you can buy.

i doubt plastic cement is bad for you, i glued several units of orks boys and various necrons up in a confined room, specificly an attic with no windows or ventilation.
and i had no side effects

This is what makes your nose bleed. You might need a dehumidifier for those dry winter nights. Or just have a glass of water near your bed when you sleep so you can dab some on the inside of your nose if Vaseline bothers you enough to not put it up there.

And yes, I can attest that super glue is bad for you. I wouldn't go as far as to order a bunch of n-95 respirator masks or anything like that but I'd say don't hover directly over it when your using it and take a break every now and then. A fan over your work space might blow stuff around but if the weather isn't too bad crack a window.

Plastic glue......love the way it holds stuff together for good........hate the way it smells, the sore throat and hangover the next morning after marathon Tyranid swarm assembly. A fan blowing across you workspace and an open window definitely help though.
