This weekend, I want to the gun range for a couple hours.

Nice, tight groupings, aside from the one-handed string.

Anyhow, leaving with the smell and taste of powder in my nose and mouth, it was a great day.

A roughly even mix of 22LR, 9mm and .45 ACP.

I like shooting .45 ACP!

Kimber, Springfield, or Para? Don't tell tell me you're shootin' some "dern ferner" .45...

I'm partial to a good 9mm and .22 LR pistol myself.

Even being the dirty liberal socialist scumbag that I am I can still empathise with how fun going to a shooting range must be. Got to hold a mates Glock (armed police have their uses) and just wished I was able to have a blast at one for a while.

Then we went out and attacked some trees with swords. Tallyho!

I'm somewhat of a liberal, but I just got to retrain with the entire U.S. arsenal. Nothing quite like a night fire with thermal sights on a 240 Bravo. God Bless the U.S. Army.

So Connecticut is the Eye of Terror? I always thought it was Las Vegas. By the way, I would love to have a honkin' big arsenal, but then I would have to use it, and I don't think I would do well in prison.

I'm as anti-guns as they come, but get me on a shooting range, and I'll go to town on that sucka! No-one can argue shooting crap isn't fun, it just is. Not people though, never people...

YO DAKKA DAKKA!

What the hell is a liberal socialist?

I'm of the same opinion; shooting is great fun. Blowing things up is great fun... but firearm restictions are a damned huge relief!

A Liberal who admits the truth behind their politics?

BTW, you know, when you're shooting the range, there isn't any blowing up to be done, right?

It's just pure gun control - controlling the gun to put little pellets of lead on target.

Greatest fun I've ever had on a range was when a local yahoo brought out his .30 cal machine gun and let people take a few rounds with it. Great fun.

We used to have a very nice ar-15. First day out after sighting in we put about 400 rounds downrange. It actually got boring to shoot because after we had sighted it in at 100 yards, we were hitting an 6 1/2 inch wide steel plate, every time, simply eyeballing it. Very nice gun.

One of the best things I did on my trip to the US was go to a range in Las Vegas and shoot a few fire-arms.

Talk in the SSSS marked ticket security lines at airports (the long high security ones) always ended up with the US citizens flabergasted that Australians do not have the right to bear arms and firearms are pretty restricted.

AR-15? What is *that*?

Sounds like a sissified non-auto gun if you ask me!

One who believes in redistribution of wealth and personal freedoms. A liberal socialist would believe in order to be truely free you must be fiscally secure. Socialist economics, liberal everything else. It's almost where I sit, although I describe my self as a liberal left winger, not quite a socialist, I still believe in the right to property, but believe in limited wealth redistribtuion through taxation.

That depends actually. When i was in South Cali, we would go out East to the open areas where you could shoot. We'd shoot up stuff like refrigerators, car doors, anything we could drag out. A good time was had by all.

When I was a kid, my friends and I would build these huge snow-forts in the alley and spend all winter shooting bottle-rockets at each other. Not those little fiisss-POP things, big honkin' death incarnate. We accidentally blew up a little dog that wandered between us once. Damn global warming!

@Frazz: Amen, brother. I grew up back east, and we used to shoot in the woods before it got overpopulated and backstops would be a major concern.

But that kind of fun isn't to be had at a licensed shooting range.

Ever heard of railroad torpedoes??? My grandpa used to work on the railroad way back when, and we had a small box of those.

Now THAT was fun. Guns AND explosives.
