I dont see how you would justify it in the fluff... but if you dont really care about fluff in your games & want to just play, I see no reason not to.

I've seen a few "looted carnifax" models, and so far that's my least favorite, but still a fun idea.
I will agree with HBMC here, fluff-wise, Tyranids are uncontrollable except by their own hive minds, except for Gene-stealer cults, which are a bit more rational as far as Tyranids go (they will at least the the ability to communicate). However, Genestealers pretty much are at the bottom of the Tyranid command structure, and are usually gobbled up by the main hive forces early on (which is why I never understood how 'stealer hordes work out on the table... there should be a limit to their number in my opinion). Since 'stealers don't command up the chain, there isn't really any way for Tyranids to work with anybody.
However, Harlequins used to be able to take Tyranids by some means. This possibly suggests that an advanced race might be able to harness the Tyranids, perhaps by manipulating their psykic and hormonal communications, thus tricking them on a chemical/biological/psykic level. But who knows, at any rate, that would be far and away too complicated an idea for even the most dastardly ork.

Just because anyone agrees with anyone, doesn't mean they are correct. Beware the thin line between what is "Correct" and what is "Popular." |

The idea of being able to to controll units by their physic powers is a cool idea. If you think about it it also makes some sence. If the small midless unit walks away from the larger controlling unit shouldnt a powerful psycher be able to take controll of it?

If you spot people who are just making spam posts, click the 'notify moderator' button in regards to their post.
Dakka has been getting steadily more users and posts (i.e. gaining in popularity) and that kind of growth has a downside in that it invariably means you will attract some people who aren't used to (or unwilling) to take the time to make posts with fully formed ideas in them or just aren't that fluent in English.
It's kind of the damned if you do, damned if you don't. When the forum is slow and very few people are posting it will feel like the forum is 'dead' but on the flip-side when many people are posting and the forum feels alive you are invariably always going to have a certain percentage of less than useful posts and posters.
We do take pride in trying to encourage people to make quality posts. If you ever spot someone you feel is purposely spamming the forum with nonsense, you can always try to politely explain to them why you think what they're doing is inconsiderate, although that is often a very tough sell.
The next step (or if you're not comfortable politely trying to help these type of people) is to click on the 'notify moderator' button in regards to these people's posts. While you may not see an immediate response in that particular thread, you can be absolutely sure that pointing out these types of users to us helps to notice that they exist. We do contact them and try to work with them in order to get them to improve their grammar, spelling, quality of posts, etc. And if ultimately they are unresponsive we have indeed banned some people for this type of behavior.
This is all done behind the scenes as our goal is to try to get people to improve their posts, rather than embarrass and shoe them off the site.
So the more people who notify us about spammer type posters, the more we will notice them and the more they will eventually either improve or be removed from the forums.
In short, if Dakka isn't meeting your standards, help us make it better!

This is apocalypse...pretty much anything goes. Besides, couldn't the orks have tyranid slave-beasts for some interesting conversions? I don't know about you guys, but a carnifex towing a battlewagon sounds wicked awesome to me.
