This is an awesome scratch built tau titan.

I don't know who built it, I just found on the internet somewhere but it is awesome.
Probably the second best tau titan i've seen. The coolest one was like a massive crisis suit on four legs. That was way cooler but this one is pretty awesome too.

to understand how many orks it takes to screw in a lightbulb you must calculate the surface area of a standeard sized urinal, multiply that by 3 bajillion, calculate that in svedish half-pennies and convert that amount to japanese yen. or you could ask a Tau to screw in the bulb.

is that meant to be a titan or just an upscaled crisis suit? whatever it is, its fair cool.

In all honesty, I don't like it.

First of all, the head is way too big. It doesn't look functional in any way, all it does is scream 'shoot me.' Considering the way other Tau battlesuits are designed, the head should be built as small as possible while allowing as wide a view range as possible.
Also, the legs are way too small for something like that. It would collapse under its own weight.
Also, the general design of the Crisis Suit doesn't lend itself well to such blown up scale. It's supposed to look sleek and agile, not massive and plodding.

If it's the one I'm thinking of, I don't like it either, and I'm incredibly biased because I hate Tau titans. I don't like the idea in the first place and I don't like it when people upscale a crisis suit or just put a damn Gundam on the table.

Did you know, inside a real Tau's head a bunch of little guys running around and pulling levers and stuff to make the Tau 'go'. That's why Tau have low initiative.

Hmm. You would think that an intelligent race like tau would not even give it a head. just have the command center in the armored chest.

Obviously imperials aren't, seeing how their titans hunch over just so you can see the head better

Actually, froma tactical point of view it would be a lot better to have the head situated like Imperial Titans do. The only way it can be shot at is from the front, where the armour is thickest and its profile is tiny (the head), or the sides, which a good princeps makes sure they keep their quarry in front of them . On that Tau titan the head could be shot from 360 degrees, same goes with Eldar titans, though they are faster so get away with a bit there.

you have to remember, it may be big but it is still Tau, so all it is going to do is shoot at you and then run away ;p

If the Apoc book wasn't completely worthless then it would have the manta in it, for one.

And two, you fail to remember Apoc datasheets. It doesn't matter if there's no Tau titan, you can make one. Kinda funny IMO to sit there and act like the Apoc book is some kind of strict authority when it's basically a crap $50 hardback "rulebook" that basically tells you "There are no rules!", and is mostly filled with pretty colored pictures instead of actual content to make you feel like you didn't completely waste your money.

He can play whatever the hell he damn well wants to, so long as everyone agrees to it. And as ridiculous as the concept is I think you'd have to be pretty dickish to refuse to let someone play with a homemade titan in a pointless Apoc game, the whole point of which is to say "screw the rules and have fun!"...

you have to remember, it may be big but it is still Tau, so all it is going to do is shoot at you and then run away ;p

Well there's nothing wrong with that, can you imagine if a robot that big tried to run? It'd probably fall over and blow itself up.

Here you go, should be easier for those that can't get down with the word doc.

Personally, from what I can see on this thing, the execution on it is very nice. It looks like a very clean build, with form following function as opposed to some builds you see where folks just glue bitz on in an attempt to make it look sci-fi enough. However, the design is puzzling. For a lot of the above mentioned reasons.

I think he's done a great build and it really follows the GW Tau suit design.

I don't care if it's a bit silly in terms of realism because all titans are totally silly anyway.

40K is basically rather silly when you think about it.

Since OP had the modeling skill to create this, its a shame that he followed GW suit proportion so closely.

Or else he could have improved it and it'll look great ( imo it still look great )

maybe scratch build the weapons too?

We've just finished a long thread about pointless "You suck" posts on modelling and painting, and you two guys come on here and say this model sucks because you don't like the styling.

The model is very well built while styling is a matter of personal taste.

Fine, here's some "constructive criticism": I'd shrink the head down a lot, it's almost the same size as the body (maybe a slight exaggeration), and the shoulders need to be cut down a bit. The feet are kinda small and it doesn't look like it'd realistically be able to stand.

Yeah, it's well built, but IN MY OPINION it could look a lot better. I personally would have preferred something more creative than an upscaled crisis suit as well.

...in any case, yeah I'll admit 40k is pretty damn silly when you think about it, but is that really any excuse to do stuff like this? At least they tried to make the other titans look feasible, if someone plops this down on the table then I'm just not going to be able to take the game seriously anymore and will probably lose a little bit of interest.

Its looks really cleanly modeled. It is kinda silly looking but, still impressive.

I dont think the tau need titans. Their firepower is already amazing. If anything they would just get a bigger rail gun on a larger tank.
