OK, you only get 5, so don't waste them on things we already know we are getting (plastic stormies, valks) or things we won't (doctrines).

My picks:

- Very flexible command squads like the IG senior officer or Inquisition retinue. Larger sizes, models that add abilities like bonus to reserve rolls, shooting at deep strikers and so on. Lots of modeling options too!
- A Rambo-like super vet (though not a named character if possible) so there's someone in the army who can fight besides the officer (which never worked for me).
- Useful enginseer, maybe an HQ option so adeptus mech armies can be (sort of) an option.
- Keep cameo as an option! My SWAT team army is waiting to hear before I paint!
- A jeep or buggy, come on, it's time and the IG needs mobility. I know there's not even been a rumor of one but I can hope.

So what's your top 5?

The 5 original ideas all sound awesome. Rambo, Super-Tech & Flexible Com... no wait, the other two are important as well... But mainly the Rambo and Super... and the flexible comma...

For me, I'd like to see units that combine in new and interesting ways. For example, "If you include a X sentinel in your army, then your X Guard units count as having X special ability." Kind of how exarchs give their unit a special ability, but without the need for the conferring unit to be IN that unit.

I know that is something that happens in several armies, but I'd like to see it as THE main feature of a IG army. I'd like to see regular units conferring abilities on OTHER regular units rather than only special characters conferring abilities elsewhere. Maybe each troops being able to buy special abilities for either and elite, fast attack or heavy support unit, and vice versa.

You may choose 1 option from the following list:
1. Your unit of IG troopers may purcase a lascannon for X points for any ONE sentinel in your army.
2. Your IG troopers may pay Y points for your rough riders to count as a scoring unit.
3. Your IG troopers may pay Z points for your command squad to include up to 2 heavy weapon troopers.
etc etc..

Your Catachan Jungle fighters unit may choose ONE option from the following list
1. Confer te infiltrate ability on ONE IG troopers unit for A points.
2. Confer the scout ability on ONE rough riders unit for B points.
etc etc..

Trouble is, I think it would be very difficult to balance. There would have to be limitations about how many abilities each unit could acquire, obviously, but even that would have risks.

Though guards may sleep and ships may lay at anchor, our foes know full well that big guns never tire.

1) That 1500 points of guardsmen with lasguns have a 50/50 shot against 1500 points of ork boyz.

2) That guard heavy weapons cost less than the same weapons in marine hands, due of course to the lower survivability and lower chance to hit. This should ideally be a 3/4 ratio (marines get two hits every three guns, guard get two hits ever four guns, so if a gun costs a marine 40 points, it should cost a guardsman 30)

3) That advisors will be competative choices.

4) That none of the models I already own get deprecated.

5) That they don't just lose kill-point missions for showing up.

1. Option to equip Conscripts/Trainee's with pistol+ccw or dual ccw's.

2. Option to equip basic guardsmen with shotguns or even pistol+ccw instead.

3. "Off Table" effects like airstrikes, bombing runs, smoke barrages (ala Flames of War), etc.

4. Effective advisors, which in addtion to above-named items, I'd personally love to see "Field Engineers" or "Combat Engineers" incorporated somehow, maybe as a variant of the Engiseers or Death Korp of Krieg combat-engineers.

5. Ork flesh buring heavy spot lights.

1. That every single choice in the army will be worth taking

2. That there will be some sort of purchase-able trench or bunker, or one of those cool tarantula things, or those little mini turrets that have heavy bolters in them.

3. That the advisor rule will change, and that all advisor point costs will be decreased. When I originally started, I wanted a Commissar in all of my line squads because I thought that they were cool...

4. What FlatlanderBoss2.0 said above, 'off the table' things would be cool. Preliminary bombardment would be sweet, airstrikes as well, etc.

5. Flexible and can adapt, yet is still at least semi-competitive so that Guard players don't insta-lose against some armies.

I would complain more about KP's but my friends are cool and we all decided to not play with KP's.

1.) Each squad get 2 heavy stubbers or grenade launchers for free , may upgrade .

2.) Ogryn are monsterous creatures and have eternal warrior , change nouthing else on them.

3.) Guard may "stand and shoot" their lasguns instead of fighting the first round they are assulted. Any kills count toward the combat res.

4.) Spotters that can call in artillery bombardments (0-1 , elite , camo cloaks , 2 man , ST10 ap3 heavy4 blast Barrage).

5.) Defensive works , (you will need to bring models to rep.) You know like earthen ramparts , sand bag emplacements , barbed wire , tank traps , mind fields exc.

1. Doctrines are still around in some form, and are not tied to special characters
2.Some squads in the codex still retain the ability to Deep Strike.
3. Rough Riders and Basilisks are still in it
4. Hardened Veterans are an upgrade to regular infantry
5. IG become less vulnerable to Kill Points, while not being made overpowered in such missions.

Anuvver fing - when they do sumfing, they try to make it look like somfink else to confuse everybody. When one of them wants to lord it over the uvvers, 'e says "I'm very speshul so'z you gotta worship me", or "I know summink wot you lot don't know, so yer better lissen good". Da funny fing is, arf of 'em believe it and da over arf don't, so 'e 'as to hit 'em all anyway or run fer it.

On #2 gotta disagree. Ogryn are big fat strong guys, not demons from hell. Imagine an elephant it can squish you, it can probably smash your car but it cannot survive an anti-tank missile or crush a tank. Ogryn need something, maybe just a lower points cost but making them IG demons is not the way to go.

#5 depends on GW making 'trenches of death'. If they do then yeah, IG will get the option, if not then forget about it.

Agreed but it's exactly what Tyranid Warriors got when what they needed was help vs. heavy bolters and such. If Orgyns are "improved" in May they will get Eternal Warrior.

1. lacklustre troops (anything from the elites or fast attack sections and advisors) are cheaper, better, fieldable in larger numbers or all three.
2. Heavy weapons get logical and fair basing rules.
3. Carapace armoured armies are supported.
4. Storm Trooper/Grenadiers, Rough Riders Ogryns, Ratlings and Hardened Veterans may be fielded in platoons.
5. Old kit coming back includes Rapier Laser Destroyers.

Without number for standard IG, Lasgun dropped to strength 2, Lasgun has special gets hot rule - on a 1 the shot hits and causes str 4 ap 6 but the guardsman dies.

Not really, although the without number style rule would fit the fluff. I think if they fixed the kp and make the upgrades a bit cheaper IG would be quite competitive.

I'd like to see actual bonuses for playing a static gunline with special abilities that reduce the boring point-and-click nature of static gunline gameplay. Massed volley fire should become viable, not assault bait for outflanking or fleet/infilstriking line breakers.
