I REALLY WISH: !!!
that they generally improve the IG into a regular competitive 5th ed 40k army (amongst marines, orks, chaos and eldar etc.)
BUT, that they dont make the codex cost twice as much as other armies' and that imperial gaurd is still fun to play against without 20 taks or anything redicolous...
the need some tlc.. but a full operation would ruin their currently flawless cheese rep

1. per-Platoon upgrades for Camo, Carapace, Mechanized, etc.
2. All Heavy & Fast Tanks Squadronable
3. Restored OOP & added FW Tanks (Exterminator, Griffon, Salamander, Conqueror etc.)
4. Restored OOP infantry (Beastmen, Squats, & Penal Legion Conscripts)
5. R24" S5 AP- RF Hellguns

d00d it's a discussion board we discuss. Feel free to pick apart my half-assed ideas.

As for Ogryns, what about this:

T5
S4, upgradable to S6 if you trade the ripper guns for bit axes and clubs
Feel no pain
5+ save (upgradable to 4+)
1 wound

This way they're relatively immune to small arms and CC attacks, still get popped by anti-tank missiles BUT you don't loose 3 wounds in combat resolution when one gets instant killed by a power fist.

1) entrechment as upgrade, bit like the master of the forge or whatever that marine can do.

2) More tanks, but equally as important, different types.

3) Better snipers

4) Air strikes etc

5) Making Enginseers, Commissars and other command units worth taking

Give the option to make a tank company. Armored Fists squads and 3 Leman Russ don't cut it.

1) Make the guardsmen better. This can be done by reducing their price or giving them additional useful abilities. They are no way comperable to orks.

2) Make the tanks a little cheaper.

3) CHIMERA PRICE DECREASE (this is rumoured to be happening, you guys how no idea how happy I was when I heard about it)

3) Guard units should be able to fire trough each other without giving cover saves to enemy

4) Griffons

5) This is one is rather importan but I wish they make guard codex like the space marine one and NOT like the chaos space marine. Ie more balance among the usefulness of units.

Well from the rumours I've seen flying about, if half are true I'm going to be pretty danged happy in Apr/May. I also like a few wish ideas I've seen suggested here.

As to the five I'd like to see, and I expect most if not all of these are going to have already been said, but there you go.

1) We get our Defensive weapons back, be it due to the fact there are multiple gunners on board so its a special Guard rule, or in the worst case Scenario the Conqueror allows it and is in the book.
2) Ratlings are one of the best sniper units again, I mean they've got to have something going for them otherwise how haven't they been extinguished from the Emperors good grace by now.
3) Our Platoons count as 1 Kill pt instead of every unit, switch Guard from being in a nightmare situation to one of the best. 'Ah you see yes you did kill those five units of Guard, but the Lt and his squad are still here at the back having tea and crumpets, so no Kill points for you.'
4) Give Ogryns Str and Tough 5, thus making it all the harder to instant kill them and making them more valuable without making them silly.
5) Put Grenadiers into the army list proper, if plastic Storm Troopers do make an appearance (even if its phase 2) I'll be wanting to take advantage of them in smaller pts games, plus I liked Grenadiers in my previous Guard army anyway.

Good thread! What I want are all essentially 5th ed. abstraction improvements:

(1) Some fair solution to the Kill Points issue!

(2) Some fair solution to the CC issue (morale, or legitimate counter charge units or ?)

* Failing these two, it wont matter what else is in the codex at all, if those don't get solved somehow there will be no point to playing IG.

(3) Clean up of the weapon team rules (LOS and basing requirements)

(4) Modernizing of the minis for the army: box sets for all the codex units whatever they may be

(5) Valkyries as troop choice transports

This is a good example of why this would not be a good rule.

Anuvver fing - when they do sumfing, they try to make it look like somfink else to confuse everybody. When one of them wants to lord it over the uvvers, 'e says "I'm very speshul so'z you gotta worship me", or "I know summink wot you lot don't know, so yer better lissen good". Da funny fing is, arf of 'em believe it and da over arf don't, so 'e 'as to hit 'em all anyway or run fer it.
