Besides the soulgrinder resemblance and the tyranidish appearance of the serpent, the concept and pose of that mire golem is a direct knockoff of GW's Albion Fen Beast.

The Mini-Soul Grinder is okay. Except it's yet another example of Steam Punk, and why Steam Punk is a daft concept

Myranda and the Razorspine are pretty cool and would make an interesting alternate to the Hordes minions Dahlia and Skarath.

The Mire Golem is nice too. These guys make good stuff.

Floating Cathedrals in space and fortress boats (Black Arks) are pretty much on the
same plane as Steampunk, i.e., pretty darn cool.

Steampunk just leaves me utterly cold. Is one of the reasons I never really perservered with Warmachine. Rules are alright, but I just don't like Steampunk nonsense.

I'm not sure which aspect of Steam Punk you have objection with but isn't there some similarities between hodge-podge orkish machinery that has no right to operate correctly and steam-punk hodge podges that have no right to operate correctly?

Not really no.

Orky Hodge Podges work around the Internal Combustion Engine, with a bit of fluff about how the Orks Nascent Psychic Talents allow it make stuff work that probably shouldn't. That I quite like.

But Steampunk...there is enough stuff from Victorian times to make Fantasy of, without just taking stuff from Sci-Fi and making it clanky steampowered stuff.

Also, Steampunk....who does the shovelling? Where is the coal stored? Surely it would run out quickly? Where is the exhaust? Where is the water tank? How the hell can you wear Steam Powered armour with scalding yourself to death and leaving the enemy mildly perplexed?

Not knocking anyone else preferences, but I just find Steampunk a little too far fetched for my tastes. NOW, Art-Deco stuff, like say Sky Captain I quite like, despite it being far fetched. Each to their own!

Most ork stuff isn't that bad though.

Ork stuff looks crude and poorly made, but not nonfunctional purely because of the design. Why can't a truck, or a battlwagon, or a shoota work? They're all realistic enough. Even Dreads and Killa Kans work on electricity, and they're design isn't anything too outlandish.

(Also, are we talking about that spider legged guy? He didn't seem that Steam Punkish to me.)

Anuvver fing - when they do sumfing, they try to make it look like somfink else to confuse everybody. When one of them wants to lord it over the uvvers, 'e says "I'm very speshul so'z you gotta worship me", or "I know summink wot you lot don't know, so yer better lissen good". Da funny fing is, arf of 'em believe it and da over arf don't, so 'e 'as to hit 'em all anyway or run fer it.

Mad Doc, check out the movie "Steamboy" for details on how Steampunk technology could work. I was skeptical of the genre as well, but it's grown on me.

What harm can it do to find out? It's a question that left bruises down the centuries, even more than "It can't hurt if I only take one" and "It's all right if you only do it standing up." Terry Pratchett, Making Money

"Can a magician kill a man by magic?" Lord Wellington asked Strange. Strange frowned. He seemed to dislike the question. "I suppose a magician might," he admitted, "but a gentleman never could." Susanna Clarke Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell

Steampunk's pretty cool. My favorite steampunk item is the coal train. Whoo whoo, here comes the Cole Train! Also pocket watches with visible gears. Those are pretty cool.

He also should have 8 legs instead of 4.. But it would be pretty easy to get some organic legs and replace whichever ones that I wanted to..
