I kinda have a small toolset going. I already have a good pair of cutters to get my plastic pieces out, Xacto Knife, and a small Filer from Revlon(Not sure if it's really that good).

Can anyone recommend some good tools to use to do my models up with? Oddly enough the area I live in(Omaha, NE) is pretty tame on Hobby Stores. We have Hobby Lobby and Hobby Town USA(Grumpy old men if you ask me). I think I'm going to start ordering my Hobby Supplies online. Any good online Hobby Sites to order from when I do this?
Thanks.

My suggestion is a nice small hobby drill. It makes it easy to hold on to small pieces, and also lets you drill out gun barrels, and holes for pinning. I plan on using mine to make some gray knight-esque helmet grill conversions soon. Awesome tool. Also, the GW modelling tool if you do any green stuff work.

A sewing needle. Very useful little tool. Painting, greenstuff, glue, you name it. They're awesome for everything.

That would be great.
Thanks.

Oh and the one think I found tonight while at the Hobby store was a Sprue Clipper. Got home and tried it out. Wow what a difference. I will not be going back to those Clippers I had from Fisker. I can still use them for something I guess.

Second one from the right. Seriously the best purchase I've ever made when it comes to warhammer

I also have a big 36" strip of greenstuff
file kit, which is something like this

Pin vise. Pretty much just use a small bit for drilling out bolters, and the biggest one that fits for meltaguns, dread weapons, exhaust pipes, drilling out heads, etc.
I also have one of those really big files, like the all metal kind you get at the dollar store. Found they're great for filing down bits that are supposed to fit flush with each other, or filing down the bottoms of feet to glue to a stand, etc. Good for filing arms and such too, gives a much flatter finish than small files that tend to round the surface (such a pain...)

Oh ya, and paper clips for pinning things

and toothpicks...lots and lots of toothpicks

edit: by large file, i mean one of these:

A hole punch is useful for making rivet heads.

A junior hacksaw is useful if you need to cut any tougher metal than figures. For example, if you want to chop up a diecast model.

I use throw away nail files.

The jeweller's saw is good for getting around corners.

The hacksaw is good for thick, tough metal -- it's not needed for figure metal.

Some things others have not yet suggested:

A low-speed, low-torque power drill. Not more than $25 - use this for pinning, the low speed/torque means that it won't break the tiny bits.

If you get the dremmel, get the flex shaft. Also, get the flex shaft hanger, it makes using the dremmel 100 times easier.

Get a good set of small clamps.

There are usually cheaper versions of the dremel about. If you have cut price 'stack 'em high, sell 'em cheap' stores nearby, you could get them quite cheap).

UK example, Aldi sells one at £14.95 as opposed to £49.95. Wether the quality is as good, probably not, but I'd rather get a new cheap first one to test to destruction than an expensive one.

A table top 'work mate' work desk could be useful if you want to work with anything larger, for terrain or vehicle creation/modification.

As much as I would love to order things from the UK, I'm looking to really order stuff from the US. I have ordered stuff from the UK before, but the long wait for it and high cost to get it to me kills me.

My favorite online hobby tool store:

Also, if you have any Dollar or 99 cent type stores around, they are a treasure trove of tools/parts/bits you would never think of needing until you see them.

I would reccomend going to your FLGS (not a GW store) and picking up the P3 sculpting toos and pin vise. These products are new from privateer press ( the makes of war machine). I picked up the sculpting toos and they are really all you need. I had already ordered a pinvise at work and was sad because the Privateer press one comes with several lengths of pin rods made of brass and drill bits. They also make most everything that GW does but much cheaper. You may also be able to go to a hardware store and get most any tool you will need though.

Dental tools are really nice for greenstuffing. You can get a wide variety of shapes and sizes for a very low cost most anywhere.

Any small craft or x-acto knife will be your best friend when working with plastic.
Jewelers files are great for most of the filing that needs to be done (if you can find 'em), as they are usually very small and precise.
clippers (which you have)
and a fine hobby saw or razor saw.

That's a really good selection as it is. For what I've needed to do with my minis so far, I haven't needed some of those even.
