I have a question that has been bugging me for a while. Why do some people pay more than RRP for Forge World stuff on eBay? Even with their postage rates it would be cheaper to get them off their own site for RRP. You'd also have the legal security of ensuring you get a quality product fit for purpose or your money back, and all that bag.
Have *you* done this? WHY!?!!?!?!? I need to know!!!!!

There is a reason people do this and it relates to something Einstein once said.

I guess because FW are notoriously slow to ship certain items. Some people just cant wait.
Also forge world dont take paypal, maybe some people need to pay with that?

Well i had intentions of starting a death korp army, got fifty troops then decided against it, i then stuck them on ebay as then men squads each one included postage but was significantly above rrp (about 45.00 a squad), then i had six heavy weapon teams that i sold in squads of three for again more then rrp (55.00 ish) and then command squad again for more then rrp (35.00 ish) and all these sold in a matter of hours as buy it now items.
What i paid for them roughly from forge world: £280 ish
Sold them through ebay for roughly: £370 ish
Not a bad mark up really, and i think i probably could have sold them for even slightly more than that. They where all unassembled and as new
I think it comes down to people wanting the models quickly, i mean the two month wait i had to even receive this first lot of models was what put me off doing the army.

I tell you what, that behavior happens with all the stuff on ebay. Ticks me off every time.
Some guys paid 8.00 €uros for a single sprue of the 40k buildings. FYI a box contains three sprues for 20 €uros and it didn't seem that the buyer desperately needed only the one sprue (generic for example). Idiots.

MAster I got, Trial I got. Also the complete Key to Time and the E-Space Trilogy which introduced the rather pathetic character of Adric.

Maybe it's the shipping thing (especially outside the UK) combined with having pics of the actual product you are recieving. I hear horror stories all the time about FW product with mis-aligned molds, bubbles, and other casting screw-ups. With ebay, you (sometimes) have great pictures of the actual product to be shipped. Not having to deal with FW on a bum product could be worth a bit.

When you buy forge world on ebay, you know someone has it in hand and are going to be shipping very soon afterwards. Forge World direct takes a while.
However if you are willing to do express shipping, you will get it very fast. I made an order and did express shipping and got it in a week, and I am in the US.

It's never the *shipping* time that's the issue with FW. If they have one of what you want already on hand, you get it quick. If they don't, you're waiting until they get around to casting it (often month+), and then they ship it quick.

Im pretty sure when you get "express shipping" your order goes to the front of the line. So it *is* cast, just also in a hurry. Otherwise there is no difference between express and normal shipping. Maybe it should be called express and normal processing instead, that would be more true and less confusing.

HBMC has a story that would tend to contradict that. I've heard similar tales from others, too.
