Hello all - I've created this iPhone app for use in 40k games. It took ages and the maths was really hard, so take a look. It supports Rending, re-rolls and Feel No Pain!

schweet! Any chance you can make the same thing for a Palm OS?

Could be, in future - the trouble with Palm OS is it doesn't have the distribution network setup that Apple has.

I did write my own random number generator as it happens, here is the code:
+(int)randomNumber {
// chosen by fair dice roll, guaranteed random
int randomNumber = 4;
return randomNumber;
}

Gladly purchased just now... man im going to use the hell out of this... pretty cool. You can have more of my money when you do a close combat addon...
The variables section is just what i sit and do in front of my computer all day, but both the stats section and the roll section are tools I didn't have before.
I was hoping there would be 40k related apps on iphone sooner rather than later. Anyone know of any others?
Great job man.

Sadly this is my job - I have to earn a living at it. A 40k app for the iPhone is EXTREMELY niche, so it's a question of economies of scale - other apps may cost less but they will sell hundreds of thousands of units.

I certainly will add CC and shooting Vs. vehicles at some point in future - some bastard gave me a middling review on the App Store complaining about not getting close combat too, so now I feel compelled to. I don't know, you stick your programming neck out for people and they expect the moon on a stick. P.S. positive reviews to counterbalance Mr. Negative would be appreciated!
Great job man.
Thank you!

I use my laptop during games to just run a random number generator for when my 30+ boyz charge. Saves me some headache.
I'd love to get this for my iphone, but that price tag is just completely unreasonable for what it is. '40k players with iphones' may be a niche market, but that just means there are less people available to purchase your product, not that there's necessarily a higher demand to compensate for that price. May as well just pull up a dice roller on a web site with my phone.

I'd happily purchase one for my Palm and there's a fairly large network of Palmware websites that distribute them for both PDA's and cellphones... PM me if you decide to do one and we can arrange payment

Well - you are of course free to not purchase it. But I have to make back the considerable time I spent working on this somehow, and at the end of the day, $5.99 is still only about the price of a shot and mixer in a London pub, or about two and a bit Genestealers. I made the app because I really love 40k and am desperate to make my work about something I enjoy, but if I'm honest there are many far more lucrative ways to spend that development time, and the development time I'm about to add as I build in CC/Vehicles to the app.

It isn't really a dice roller tool, although it does function well as one. I see it more as a theory-hammer tool. Sitting around and thinking about how many wounds a full loota unit can put on turbo-boosted nob bikers. Then getting even deeper and seeing how the probability breaks down in a chart, on your phone... is cool.
It costs HALF of what one character in a metal blister costs. Really? Completely unreasonable? I respect that you may not find it carries the $6 value. You are entitled to that opinion. But 'completely unreasonable' is such hyperbole that I had to post this.

Yeah - I don't really envision it or intend it to replace rolling dice - it's comparitively more cumbersome and fiddly than just picking them up and chucking them on the table. But for working out stuff like how many Marines your Dire Avengers can kill in a turn if they Bladestorm with and without Doom - handy! And the maths of working out Rending is so complicated that working it out each time you want to have a crack at some Feel No Pain Plague Marines with your Assault Cannon - way too fiddly to work out by hand every go.
It costs HALF of what one character in a metal blister costs. Really? Completely unreasonable? I respect that you may not find it carries the $6 value. You are entitled to that opinion. But 'completely unreasonable' is such hyperbole that I had to post this.
