Terminators with tank hunters and assault cannons are good for anti-tank. Get meltaguns and power fists for your Crusader squads too. Accept Any Challenge is generally considered the best vow because Preferred Enemy is hawt for a melee army.

Make 'em nice and shiny so they confuse and blind your enemy. Also, shiny black Templars just look really keen.

Cap'n Gordino's instant grammar guide:
"This is TOO expensive." "I'm going TO the store, TO get some stuff."
"That is THEIR stuff." "THEY'RE crappy converters."
"I put it over THERE." "I'll go to the store THEN."
"He knows better THAN that." "This is NEW." "Most players KNEW that."

With my experience with the BTs and from what I've been told and have read; get Crusader Squads that have Bolt Pistols and Close Combat weapons (basic chainswords work) since the BTs are one of the best Chapters out there that excel in close combat.

I think that the only other two chapters that might beat them in Close Combat would be the Blood Angels and Space Wolves.

Well I kind of moved near Toronto, actually.

I would not be shy to mix in a few bolters. That, and use your characters to boost the leadership of Crusader Squads, with or without Rites of Battle.

Thanks for the feedback guys

Adding in a couple bolters is actually a really good idea due to the complex unit wound allocation rules now

I usually run crusader squads with the following, 1x Meltagun 1x Power Weapon 7x CCW's and then attach either my marshal or EC with them. I might drop 2 of the CCW crusaders and give them bolters. (send them in a drop pod close enough to pop a tank when they land)

Black Templars Command Squads are brutal in this edition! The legacy retinue rules allow for a fairly cheap yet extremely hard hitting squad.

Check out the forums at Warseer and Bolter and Chainsword if you'd like to find Tacticas for the Black Templars. One thing that I can say in my experience is that Crusader squads are very powerful against infantry but are reliant on the rest of the army for versatility. With only one special weapon and a one-attack power fist, I've found putting in characters with high-Strength weapons like Thunder Hammers go a long way towards keeping troops safe from line-breaker units like Monstrous Creatures and Dreadnoughts. Luckily, Black Templars have excellent character selections, able to take the Emperor's Champion alongside Commanders and Chaplains and even able to boost their numbers with Techmarines with Armoury access!

Also, don't try to add a Librarian. Black Templar Codex says that they will never take to the field of battle with a Librarian as an ally since they're tainted by the warp.
