Okay here is my army list:

Dante
Corbulo
5x Veteran Assault Marines/2x power fist, power weapon, meltagun
5x Veteran Assault Marines/2x power fist, power weapon, meltagun
5x Death Company Marines- rhino (OCE)
10x tactical Marines/power fist, meltagun - rhino (OCE)
10x tactical Marines/power fist, meltagun - rhino (OCE)
10x assault Marines/plasma pistol, power fist - rhino (OCE)
Baal predator/heavy bolter sponsons

Corbulo rides with the DC.

There were 18 participants at the Coliseum of Comics store in Kissimmee, Florida. They have some of the best tables I have played on. I got there early to buy some comics and hobby supplies.

There were quite a few daemon armies, a lot of Vulkan armies, a beautiful and fluffy Iyanden army, some Chaos Space Marines, but no orks.

My first round mission was against a lash spam army:

Lash prince/wings
Lash prince
Defiler
Defiler
Greater Daemon
Lots of Nurgle Marines

This mission was objective based with one objective in each table quarter which scattered on 2d6. We setup in diagonal quarters and I chose to go second. Basically I deployed my rhinos facing his army such that they shielded my jump infantry and I put the two Baals on the flank looking into my opponent's table quarter.

You got 1 point for holding an objective in an adjacent
quarter and two points for the enemy's quarter. My strategy was to go for the two point quarter as this was the easiest way to win if you could pull it off.

The first two turns I moved my rhinos to jockey for position to launch a speared assault into the opponent's table quarter, being very careful to keep the jump infantry screened out of LOS from the princes. My Baals kept pumping hot lead into the winged prince and took two wounds off of it. I held back the Death Company and assault Marines to guard my own objective. The assault Marines rode their rhino over to the adjacent table quarter where he had a high concentration of Nurgle Marines to act as a distraction and slow him down from reaching my objective. Only one squad of Nurgle Marines had a rhino.

The third turn I multi-charged the lash prince and a squad of Nurgle Marines guarding the flank to his objective with one tactical squad, Dante and both VAS. Unfortunately Dante went down to a power fist but I cleared out both units on the charge. His two defilers were back in his table quarter guarding his objective. I consolidated into cover with the VAS to minimize death from ordnance.

Over in my table quarter the assault Marines did provide a great speed bump, but were eventually beat down by a big squad of Nurgle Marines and the GD. Both units then headed towards my objective and now I only had Corbulo and the DC to stop them.

I still had a full squad of tactical Marines in their rhino which I OCEd over towards the defilers. One squad of VAS was still in good shape and came in behind the transport. His walking prince came over in support of the rhinos.

His walking squad of Nurgle Marines eat some lead from my two Baals then the DC jumped them and killed the remainder on the charge. His GD had gotten slowed down crossing some difficult terrain so I would have a great chance to charge it as well with Corbulo and the DC. I shot the GD with their pistols then charged it for the kill before it could strike back. My objective was safe and uncontested.

Over in my opponent's quarter the other tactical squad and VAS took out both defilers with their combined meltas and the charge. The walking prince lashed my tacticals off the objective but was killed in the ensuing assault and my tacticals consolidated back onto the objective for the massacre.

You don't have any pics do you, GBF? I don't mean a play by play but I would love to see some of this terrain. Nice to see you were able to minimize his Lashes by LOS blocking terrain.

I will start bringing my camera again but unfortunately I did not have one yesterday. If there is a rise on the table use it to elevate the rhino so that the prince can not see units behind it. Good use of terrain (there fortunately a big piece in the middle of the table) plus the vehicles ca. Shut down lash.

The next game was versus Vulkan Marines. Here is the opponent list:

Vulkan
3x Dreadnaught/multi-melta
3x landspeeder/multi-melta
2x whirlwind
Dev squad (5 man) - 2xML & plasma cannon
4x 10 man tactical squad broke into combat squads/flamers & multi-meltas

Wow this list was a wet dream for fighting against in a kill point mission and as it turned out it did go to KPs. My opponent played extremely slow and we only got in three turns.

The mission was capture and control but you placed the enemy objective in your deployment zone. I placed his directly across the table from where he placed mine. The game really dragged to only get in three turns. I was one turn from breaking through to my objective but unfortunately time was called before we could start the fourth turn. It was a draw so we went over to KPs to decide who won. He had destroyed all my vehicles except for one rhino but I still had two more kill points so I ended up with a minor win.

I see a lot of the Vulkan Marines and while I think it is a good list for people new to the game but one of it's major weaknesses is it easily gives up too many kill points. It also lacks in assault and I was able to use that well to my advantage early on.

the third mission was an interesting variation on kill points. You chose five units from your opponent's list and each of those were worth a kill point each if you destroyed them. If chose a dedicated transport then you also had to choose their parent unit.

My opponent was playing Chaos daemons and his list looked something like this:

Nurgle special character greater daemon
2x 10x Plague Bearers/icon
2x 8x Bloodletters
9x daemonettes
9x Horrors
3x Flamers
3x Soul grinder/maw cannon - phlegm

I chose his Bloodletters, daemonettes, Horrors and Flamers as my kill points. He chose my three troop choices and two VAS as his kill points. Deployment was pitched battle again and my opponent won the roll opting to go second.

I deployed with a rhino castle and both Baals off to the side with my jump infantry inside the rhino castle. My opponent rolled and got his second block to come in first. The first soul grinder scattered into terrain and was immoblized. The second soul grinder came right beside my rhino castle - note that there was not enough room for any of his units to safely deep strike inside my rhino castle. One unit of plague bearers came in and he placed them in the middle of the table. Both units of bloodletters came in using the icon in the plague bearer unit. The daemonettes came in staying inside his DZ. I had popped smoke on all my tanks and both of his soul grinders failed to do any damage. I could see that his plan was to pop transports then assault my units with his daemons.

The second turn my rhino castle shifted towards the closest soul grinder so I could shoot it with the tactical squads' meltaguns. Dante jumped over the rhinos so he could also shoot the soul grinder with his perdition pistol. My Baals both made their rolls to use their OCEs and moved away further from my rhino castle. The Baals opened up on one squad of bloodletters and brought them down to half strength. I fired all three meltas into the soul grinder, immobilizing it and destroying the maw cannon. This turn the only daemonic unit to come in were the three flamers and the pack of plague bearers. His bloodletters moved and ran towards my Baals while the original unit of plague bearers moved and ran towards my rhinos. The newly arrived plague bearers came in on the other side of my rhinos and ran closer. The immoblized soul grinder shot at a rhino but scattered off.

Top of tHe third turn Dante jumped back over the rhinos well placed to lead both VAS units into assault against the second unit of plague bearers. My rhino castle shifted away from the first unit of plague bearers. The Baals moved back towards the far corner of my DZ and one was able to use it's OCE again. That Baal fired into the Bloodletters again and destroyed them. The second Baal destroyed all three Flamers. All of my rhinos fired their storm bolters into the second pack of plague bearers along with Dante and both VAS squads. Next I charged the Nurgle daemons with Dante and both VAS destroying the unit. At this point I went ahead by two kill points. My opponent then rolled for his reserves and in came the third soul grinder close to my two Baals. He opted to fleet that soul grinder closer to my Baals. The daemonettes hung back moving into some woods for the cover saves. The remaining unit of bloodletters moved and ran closer to my Baals. His orginal pack of plague bearers moved and ran towards my rhino wall. The immobilized soul grinder fired on a rhino but could only shake it.

From this point on I decided to play keep away moving my rhino castle further away from the plague bearers with the jump infantry hidden by the wall of transports. The rhinos moved out of range from the immobilzed soul grinder. Eventually the other soul grinder was able to destroy both Baals and I also destroyed the second unit of bloodletters for my third KP. The game ended after the sixth turn and I massacred.

I ended up winning best sportsmanship and two other members of my club won best overall (WhiteDevil) and best general (Stylez). It was a nice sweep for the club and I picked up another box of bloodletters as my prize.

You can not use an icon that appeared on the same turn.

that's a weird daemon army... a bit of everything with no real focus. no crushers/fiends...

Good reports, thanks for posting, and nice performance.

Sigh, memories. How long has the Coliseum been setup for 40K? I moved out of the area about 10 years ago. Anyway, thanks for the report.

Gonna have to go down and visit old friends, bring my army....
