I imagine they will be up for retail sale (at least online) sooner rather than later! If they are able to deliver infantry and crusaders by Christmas, I will be very happy... a much faster turn-around time than most Kickstarters that require molding.

That would be cool if we could hear from Mark or WGF when there's going to be a shelf date for the first wave models. I'd be outside the metaphorical door with cash in hand that's for sure!

don't you go catching a metaphorical cold, KM. They are rampant at this time of the year.

Another thing that DFG has over DG is the sheer level of communication and updates. Sure, his blog posts aren't super frequent but the KS has just been excellent on that side of things.

Heh, imagine that... long previews for a product, mounting excitement and a loyal fan base, who'd've thunk...

I just posted this update #75 but thought I should also post it here.

This is not a message I anticipated writing or one that I take lightly. I know all of you (myself included) were excited about the prospect of little boxes of DreamForge goodness settling beneath your Christmas trees but I must apologize to all of you. Despite our best efforts to get your stage one items to you before Christmas, I am sorry to say we will miss this goal.

We have been trying desperately to keep to our original goal. The staff over at Ghost Studios/WGF have been working VERY long days trying to keep us on target pushing the box printers, the engineering staff , the manufacturing plant employees and myself, but despite our best efforts, it all came down to how long it takes to machine the mold halves and the sheer volume of molds that we needed to produce.
Simply put, we underestimated the number of tools that would need to be cut in order to complete the stage one deliveries. As we arranged the models into sprue layouts, the number of molds needed to complete each set grew beyond our initial estimation. With the entire CNC machine inventory running 24/7, we simply did not have enough machines to cut the large number of molds (close to 60 mold halves) this project required within the time limitations I provided in the Kickstarter.

Today, I received confirmation that we had missed our target date. I debated on holding this news until I had a firm revised date but I decided that it was better to share this information with you sooner rather than later.
So, where are we and what can we expect?

The vast majority of the items have already finished production, the sprues have been cast and many are boxed or in the process of being boxed. The remaining molds are being test shot or are to be test shot this week and any last minuet changes made before final production runs. The information I have, is that the shipment will be in the Wargames Factory warehouse around the Christmas week and will be shipping out shortly after. I wish I could give you better news or a firmer date but with the information I have I can only provide a generalized date. Once I have any firm news I will update you ASAP.

How does this affect the stage two and three? We are currently on track to provide these stages within the estimated window.

All the best,
Mark Mondragon

Edit: Ninja'ed by Mark himself, so edited out the text of the update. Thanks for posting here, Mark, and for working so hard on this. It is a bummer! But if Stage 2 and 3 do not slip, I will still be happy with the timeframe for this project.

It looks like that first delivery date for Stage 1 was just too ambitious. It's the Kickstarter curse...

These will be in the supply chain late January or February?

At the end of the day you still have the word ‘dragon’ in your name, so that makes up for it I guess.

Thankfully (?) this doesn’t impact me as I was only getting the 15mm Knights and some big heavy troopers.

Issues will always come up in life that ruin plans. While disappointing that we'll be a month longer waiting for the shinies, I do appreciate you taking the time to come here and post the information yourself.

Slippage and similar issues are easier to abide by when there's communication instead of uncertainty and "I heard from a guy wearing a vermillion shirt that..."-type rumormongering that some companies like to engage in.

Bummer. My painting queue has been dry for a little spell. I do have some tanks to airbrush though...

Mark, you get us our goodies. At least we cannot fault you for not being communicative and open about it. Not like another company that I have in my sights lately, say.

Also, the soft update on the supply chain for general release is good. Now I know I'll have a few months to get Phase 1 ready to spruce up interest locally.

Thanks Mark for keeping us in the loop, both via email and here on Dakka.

One of the reasons I went in for this Kickstarter is the considerable degree of professionalism that you have consistently displayed, and this is an ideal example.

Of course, I'm sure we're all a little disappointed that we won't have our toys on Christmas morning (or the 8th night of Hanukkah, etc.) but I think we all also realize the enormity of this project, and the level of dedication you've shown in making this happen. We can wait a few more weeks, as I'm sure we all have way too many toys as it is!

Keep up the hard work, and thanks for keeping us in the loop.

Considering the level of awesome that is going into this product, as evidenced by the pictures we have already seen so far, I can wait a little longer. It's not like my head is going to explode from sheer anticipation...or will it?

Deep down I knew this would probably happen, I am still amazed at how much progress has been made already though. Speaking of which, do you have any idea how long it would have taken to get to this stage without a kickstarter? After all, it seems like you went from next to nothing to gorgeous plastic molds in the space of a couple of months!

I have to echo carthasix, everything is being dealt with in a very professional manner so while I may be dissapointed, I bear no hard feeling whatsoever!

I agree completely with the rest of my brethren in this thread. We've got your back Mark, we're a little disappointed but I know I and probably the rest of us in here are still drooling like you have pavlov's bell on hand at the thought of our plastic crack. You've been professional and EXTREMELY transparent about this whole process with us from the very start and that honesty, letting us know exactly what's going on behind the scenes is what's making it all work out for us all.

Tyrant,

The Mayan calendar won't have any bearing on our delivery dates. This December is the end of, IIRC, the 3rd or 4th 'world' in the Mayan calendar - which was just a cycle, not the prophesied destruction of the planet.

As to the delay, well being from the UK, I was not expecting anything to arrive on my doorstep before the new year anyways, so dissapointment is kept to a minimum. I still have nothing but confidence in Mark as he has shown us all the progress so far, impressing me with every picture and render. I just hope I can do his work justice when it does arrive.

"Ask ten different scientists about the environment, population control, genetics, and you'll get ten different answers, but there's one thing every scientist on the planet agrees on. Whether it happens in a hundred years or a thousand years or a million years, eventually our Sun will grow cold and go out. When that happens, it won't just take us. It'll take Marilyn Monroe, and Lao-Tzu, and Einstein, and Morobuto, and Buddy Holly, and Aristophanes…then all of this…all of this…was for nothing. Unless we go to the stars." Actually it's not, it's something like 2017 by the Mayan calender, so the cycle's already ended and rebooted. Gotta love leap years eh?
