I'd go Black primer, then multiple layers of Red Gore until its even, highlight in some Blood red into the mix for the very brightest areas, then wash with Badab Black and Baal Red.

I actually got a very similar colour with my crimsons. What I did was base coat black, scab red over that. Black ink. 50/50 scab red and red gore. red gore over that. 50/50 red gore and blood red for highlights, then just pure blood red as the extreme.
