Holy crap, seems you can't swing a dead Hrud without hitting a Vulkan conversion.

So, with that said, swinging my own croaked Hrud, I present my take on Vulkan.

started with with Games Day 05 marine since he was sitting around doing nothing with his storm bolter and power fist. Also found an old chimera heavy flamer nozzle and the flaming spear from the tzeentch disc rider. Backpack is just a simple chop of a couple old plastic saurus and a regular back pack.

I'm no Golden Demon painter. Hell, I'm lucky to get to paint maybe once a week with the kids running around and cammeras seem to inflate my short comings. New digital camera doesn't seem to help either.

Decent pic .. nice idea with the saurus heads .. not too shabby at all. Good work fella!

Saurus heads - genius

Painting him Black instead of 'black skinned' - Proper

Upgrading that spear to a more imposing looking bit of Sci-mystical weaponry - A better idea IMO, the current weapon looks too primative/WHFB to me.

The skin tones are excellently rich, beautiful work.

Yeah, I'll second all of these comments - good stuff. And props to you for finding time to paint while being busy with the family - I know how hard it is!

A very nice looking model. I may just have to made "another" Vulcan now as I really like that pose. An just happen to have a couple of the base model you used lying around collecting dust.

Personaly, I love all the Vulcans. Mostly because that GW hasn't made a vulcan model so people will convert him from a whole bunch of different models, which gives me tons of ideas. Great job.

Forgive me, Vulkan as in the Primarch of the Salamanders? If that is the case, it's not very spectacular. I expect Primarch models to be over the top.

I agree that the spear is underwhelming as MeanGreenStompa put it.

The painting seems a bit sloppy, no real highlighting. And the back pack with the vent ports very poorly painted bugs me.

Overall it's a very table top ready mini, but not show worthy.

Vulkan as is Vulkan He'stan, the Salamanders Special Character in the newest Codex: Space Marines.

I have done two conversions for my friends so they could run Vulkan. Used basic commander, used power fist for gauntlet, and a Chaos termie Lord sorcerer staff with an Ork blade on it.

I recently found a couple of Salamander Chaplain Xavier blisters. Going to use the cape for my Vulcan.

I will show when I have my parade of special characters in an upcoming P&M blog.

I think its a very nice model.

And I know your pain about the camera. The collective machine spirit of all cameras hate gamers.

For the love of God I am NOT knocking Vulkan and Wazdakka conversions, I am just saying there are a lot of them!!!

Some parts, like the face and saurus heads, could use a bit of shading. Other than that, looks good.

Because his rules may not be broken, but you can sure as hell hear something grinding when you put him in a list. He is that bad ass.

Because people havent figured out that you can play space marines WITHOUT special characters and still be awesome...yet.

lol i agree with you there Shane. My oldest brother plays SM and holy moly I really have to bang my head against the desk to thing of lists to counter him. He has NEVER used a SC in his life and he just kicks ass with a normal list.

OP your Vulcan is pretty damn sweet. Nicely done on the powerfist flamer thingy as well. You know they used to have a CC flamer witha LITTLE template. Its funny anywho. GOOD MINI
