MISSION - Capture and Control

DEPLOYMENT - Pitched Battle

Blood Angels win 1st turn and deploy all their forces towards the center of the board. The assault squads and terminator squad are left in reserves to arrive via Deep Strike. The Tyranids are all left in reserve to arrive via Deep Strike and Outflank.

TURN 1

Blood Angels having no targets on the board begin to make their way towards the Tyranid Objective. 2 Rhinos, 1 Predator and the Dreadnaught begin to move to the right side of the board. All Nids are in reserve.

TURN 2

Blood Angels Assault Squad make their reserves rolls succesfully and arrive towards the Tyranid Objective. While the tanks continue moving onward. Still no sign of Tyranid Activity during the shooting and assault phases.

And then suddenly AMBUSH! The Tyranids successfully gain 2 Lictors, 5 full squads of Genestealers and the Broodlord w/Genestealer Retinue from their reserves. However somewhat poor reserves rolls caused 47 Genestealers and the Broodlord to arrive from the left side of the board, while 24 other Genestealers arrived from the right side aided by 2 Lictors who had hidden away in a nearby tall grass field. One of the Lictors accidentally tripped on the grass while leaping out and broke a few ribs causing it to lose 1 wound.

Tyranids do their RUN moves to approach the enemy closer. And then carry on to Assault everything in the vicinity. 2 Lictors assault and wreck a Rhino transport vehicle, while 24 Genestealers assault the Dreadnaught, a full Assault Squad and the Predator. Killing 8 Assault Marines, Causing Shaken on the Predator and Armament Destroying/Immobilising the Dreadnaught.

TURN 3

The Blood Angels Terminators reinforcements failed to arrive. And due to the Nids being locked in combat with 1 remaining space marine from Turn 2's assault, the Blood Angels were left with very little choice in targets. They shot and killed a Lictor and a few genestealers on the left flank, which the Blood Angels set their Rhino in the way to provide a barrier against the incoming genestealer assault.

1 more genestealer unit arrived from Reserves and so The Nids continued to run towards their targets however the Blood Angels had strategically placed vehicles to block their way, and the Nids were more than happy to oblige an assault on these tanks. The rest aimed to cripple the Blood Angels Troop choices by wiping out their space marines.

However the Nids were unsuccessful in taking out the Rhino. But managed to wipe out 1 unit of space marines while severely crippling another.

TURN 4

The battle continues, the blood angels rhino tank shocked the genestealers out of the way forcing them back while the Predator used it's heavy flamers on the Genestealer unit close by easily crippling it. The dreadnaught that had been locked in combat for several turns finally saw it's demise as it exploded and took down 3 genestealers with it. The Death Company assaulted and wiped out the remaining genestealers in the weakened unit on the left flank

The Tyranids counter-attack fiercely this time. The last lictor arrived creeping upon the assault squad by the Tyranid Objective. Both rhinos, the predator, The death company and the assault squad were assaulted this turn by a mass of genestealers and lictors bent on tearing through their armour and pave the way for an incoming Tyranid invasion of the planet.

In the aftermath both Rhinos were exploded taking many genestealers down with them. The predator suffered armament destroyed result to it's flamer and was stunned which it's extra armour lowered to shaken. The assault squad suffered a casualty and were unable to deal any damage, and the death company found itself engaged with a new Genestealer unit that severely crippled it leaving only the attached Captain and Chaplain to fend for themselves as another unit of genestealers and the Broodlord approached.

TURN 5

The predator speeded towards the left, the Terminator reinforcements arrived at the Tyranid Objective and used their RUN ability to move in closer to it. The assaults continued as the Lictor managed to rend through 2 more space marines and the Death Company's Captain and Chaplain fought off genestealers and the Chaplain was killed in the process leaving only the Captain standing with 1 wound remaining. The Lictor used it's Hit & Run ability to disengage the Assault Squad and fight off either the Terminators or the predator

The Tyranids finally reached the Blood Angels objective which was being secured by a Squad of Blood Angels and charged in head first with the Broodlord's unit. While the 2 Lictors assaulted the Predator in an effort to destroy it considering it a bigger threat with it's flamer than the Terminators. The genestealer troops assaulted the Terminators in an effort to destroy them and secure the objective. The Terminators received 3 rending blows but managed to save 2 of them only losing 1 terminator in the process and cutting down the genestealers after. 1 Unit of genestealers fled and the other single model from an older unit remained in combat with the Terminators. The 2 Lictors were unable to destroy the predator instead shaking it once again. The broodlord's squad however decimated the small space marine unit and his fellow genestealers eliminated the space marine captain and captured the Blood Angels objective.

The turn ended and the roll for random game length was a 1.

GAME END
WINNER: TYRANIDS......?

Oh wait, what's that you say? The Assault Squad is a TROOP CHOICE?? WTF?!!! Curse you Blood Angels!!!!!!!

DRAW GAME!

MVP of the GAME

Don't you just love Codex peculiarities like these?

You shouldn't be worried about the one bullet with your name on it, Boldric. You should be worried about the ones labelled "to whom it may concern"-from Blackadder goes Forth!

Nice terrain at your FLGS, but I look at that Tyranids objective and think it's a blob of fancy shave gel.

That is actually carnifex dung.

The whole reason we even had this match was due to that very fact.
A carnifex went potty on that gameboard and left a little green present.
And the Blood Angels being the neat-freaks that they are, went mad after realizing a carnifex just took a dump on their sacred grounds and sent their cleaning crew.
Unfortunately they did not realize that Tyranids are like animals and as we all know animals mark their territories in such ways. So that a whole crew of genestealers were in charge of guarding the carnifex dung as this was now a historic tyranid landmark upon the lands.
And well you know how the rest of the story went.

I am working up a similar list myself.. only thinking of taking 3 units with scuttlers to free up pointage for a Carnifex..

But.. DAMN.. Love the Horde o Bugs.. that must have been very scary for your opponent.

I've had great luck running a stealer shock with a few (2 usually) carnifexes. they seem to throw off the opponent just enough to let the stealers really go to town. Thanks for posting a great report. hope to see more in the future.

lol dude I was so disappointed when all those stealers came from the left and all the fighting was being done on the right side. But yes it definetly looked sweet when they were lined up like that and approaching from the flanks.
