Has anyone used LED lights for their Dreads or Termi's with any success?

I've seen regular vehicles done with them, but not so much on the regular type models.

Thanks!

Well you would first need to find really small LEDs, and some sort of switch battery combo that would fit on the bottom of a base. I've done a tank before and it was such a pain in the butt I doubt I'll do another one.

I saw pics of the guy's Chaos army with the LR and lights. I know they can be small - going to Radio Shack to check out some options.

If I get one done, I'll send some pics.

There are examples I think in older modeling/painting threads on this very site of people lighting up things as small as necron eyes or the eyes of a weirdboy. So it's definitely doable for termies or dreads. The difficult part is figuring out where/how to run the cables (either incorporating it into the model or drilling a path straight from say the eyes out one foot).

Had a friend that did this a couple years ago with terminators, he cut clear plastic claws for his lightning claws, wired it inside, and then lit it up with LEDS, made the claws light up and the eyes, pretty cool actually.

But, from what I gathered it was quite a bit of work to do that one guy.

I picked up from Ikea last year some blue cable lights which I plan to pimp up a land raider with, its acable about a meter long maybe 1-2mm across that glows blue for its entire length...... The problem is always the battery, butwith a LR no issue really!

Good luck with it!

My comments are my own, and mine own alone. If you have any complaints, please report to Mr Spanky who will take them down for you.....

I've found LED's as small as 1.5mm, but they all seem to require a 9v source (Good for Dreads, not so good for Termi's). Anyone know of a LR44 or SR44 battery casing that would work? I've seen these types of batteries in smaller LED flashlights. The modeling/drilling wouldn't be too bad, just got to fit the power source under the base.

There's a tutorial on lighting up a bike on B&C here (http://bolterandchainsword.com/index.php?showtopic=94898) and one on lighting up a Tau Firewarrior on WiP here (http://z11.invisionfree.com/Work_In_Progress/index.php?showtopic=2280)

Hopefully they should give you an idea on the steps you'll need.

Those were awesome, and the tutorial is nice - bookmarked that puppy.

I'm using new plastic Terminators, so I'm thinking my wiring shouldn't be as "hard" as with a normal marine type.

I'm just inspired from the pic's of Horus and the Emperor and how their heads are lit up from inside the casing.

The Necron Flayers look totally awesome.

That was my first thought, Dreads? No, how about someone crazy enough to stick them in Necrons! I wasn't sure what site I had seen them on, good pull.
