Subject: Started Eldar. Where to from here?

Recently I've bought myself Eldar Battleforce, Box of Fire Dragons, Box of Harlequins and a Vyper Jetbike. So my question would be; where to from here? Obviously I'm missing an HQ, so that's a priority. But, what to add to my army if I want to make it more CC oriented? Or if that's a bad idea, to make it more shooty or even balanced. I'm quite new at 40k, but I wanted Eldar, so I would really appreciate the help
Thanks in advance.

Well since your new I would start by looking through the Tatics and Army Lists treads for some ideas and advice. There is really good stuff in there.
As to your question, you never can go wrong with a farseer. The Farseer has so many different layouts - fortune/guide, fortune/doom, mind war...it fits nicely into any eldar army.
Eldar can go CC however they need to be highly mechanized as they are almost all t3 so most things will wound them on 3's if they are walking accross the table.

Well, you didn't list it, so perhaps the Codex would be an excellent next purchase?
I would also be tempted to get another Vyper or two as well, make it into a squadron.

Do your own thing.
Read the Codex, especially the fluff, see if anything jumps out at you and screams 'cool'

Good advice from the Doc. Dont let people preach to you. Theres a few no brainer lists but you'll have more fun with a list you like.
If you really want advice I'd say a wraithlord (cool fig, draws fire from your troops) or some Dark Reapers just cos they look cool and are great against marines or equivs (which you'll face more often than not.

Well, I'd take an Autarch on foot (Yriel) and a Farseer on foot (Eldrad).
You could go for a mech theme with all units mounted in Serpents (6 Fire Dragons, 2x 10 Dire Avengers) and Falcons (6 Harlies) supported by 2 Fire Prisms.
Or you could pick a hammer & anvil army. In this case, I'd take Eldrad and an Avatar, 2x 10 Dire Avengers, 10 Harlies for counterstrike, 2 Wraithlords, 3 Warwalkers w/ scatterlasers.

If you bought the battleforce you're stuck with half a unit Dire Avengers if I'm not mistaken. You might wanna consider to fill them up, altough I don't know where you would get the other half.
If you want your army to be more CC oriented, maybe an Autarch or an Avatar would be a better HQ choice.
Considering how 40k works in 5th edition you should look more into troop choices. Jetbikes are not really good at anything besides taking objectives, so you might wanna add a second DA squad or more Guardians.
You already have 2 Elite choices, so a little Heavy Support would probably a good idea.
But in the end, I think it's best if you stick with the Doc's advice, just buy what loks cool. That's the best way if you're a new player.

Thanks people. My thoughts exactly about the list. Probably something I think it's cool. And the way things are, couple of things come to mind.
I really like the Warp Spider models (dunno if they're any good tho') and Striking Scorpions. But most of all I really like the Harlequin fluff and the models, especially that Death Jester guy. How good are Harley's anyway? Judging by wargear they can be really dangerous up close, especially those with Harlequin's kiss. About that no brainers list, I don't really like those and I just want for my army to be fun and designed by me for the most part. Just wanted to see opinions about what is generally a good choice.
Are phoenix lords good for their points?
Farseer is currently my No1 HQ choice.

I wont buy any Harlequins for my army for two reasons.
1. I prefer Aspect Warriors, they fit much better into the army imo
2. Harlequins are pretty overpowered. I usually stay away from the uber-choices in a Codex. Don't ask me why though...

Quins are good in CC however if they get caught in rapid fire range expect to loose severaly due to there 5++ (invounerable) save. They are great counter charge units and usually will draw some fire away from other units.
As to phoenix lords, imo they are amazing modles and fun to paint but are basically suped up squad leaders that take up a useful HQ slot. If I ever got eldar I'de buy them for astetics only (if you want to run one then do).

Oh, and with Harlequins...pick your fights extremely carefully. They do very well against small units, like enemy Command Squads, but are pretty fragile should the enemy get much of a retaliation in.
The worst thing though, with the loss of consolidating into HTH (thankfully!) is to cut through in the first round, as they are then left in the middle of rapidfire range, and they probably won't survive.
I'd reccomend trying to get nearby units into HTH as well. Then, when the Harlies have gubbed their initial target, they can lend their weight to another fight.

Well dont be scared of painting...eldar may look intimidating in the book but just go at it, be patient and enjoy the results.

HQ with Avater is nice with CC.
HQ with Farseer ' s guide is nice with Ranged.
Scropions and banshees if you like CC
Dire Avenger is always a good troop choice.
Blade storm with guide is nice.
Can always fill heavy choices with warwalkers
( tons of range fire power ) Or heavy reapers and have Guide from
farseer.
