From the latest GW news update on their site, looks like the Blood Bowl range gets another Star Player resculpt.

He looks kind of freakin' huge there on that 40mm, but I love the sculpt. Big muscles, a battered face, a couple of crude pieces of armor and a general atmosphere of impending ouch. The very essence of Blood Bowl.

The supply does not get to make the demands.

Is THIS how good Blood Bowl sculpts have gotten in the last 12 years?! I may have to start playing again after all.

Trust me, no matter what damage they have the potential to do, single-shot weapons always flatter to deceive in 40k.                                                                                                       Rule #1

For contrast, here's the old Zug.

The likeness is obvious, and it's evident that the sculpt has not aged well. I wonder what GW's goal is re: these guys, or are do they just have some guy in the modelling department who likes making BB players? If so, here's hoping he'll turn his attentions to some of the ones who never got make into models, or ones whose models have been been extinct for a looong time.

Wow, my first thought was that it Morg n thorg... I always liked Zug. Never thought the old model was big enough. He's written of as though he were massive. Now the model fits.

Nice, I hope there's more on the way. Love the game and some new eye candy will bring back those who have strayed and those yet to play.

As far as I remember, Zug is pretty much an Ogre statwise as well.

That is a fantastic model, and a first-rate paint job as well. I hope that the rest of the range gets a similar overhaul, it might actually force me into picking up a team.

Yeah, have you seen the resculpted Human team? They look -really- good. If they can just re-do all their other ancient sculpts, Blood Bowl could make a serious resurgence. Right now, though, you can get nicer minis for the game from other companies like Shadowforge and Impact.

That's a good looking model.

Hrmmmm...Maybe they'll have a Blood Bowl release blitz to coincide with the launch of the video game.

I know my Skaven could use an update.

Yeahhh...that might be a bit too much to ask for.

More likely they'll continue releasing one mini every three months or so - completely updating the line sometime around 2045. At which point it will be out of date again.

And the cycle continues.....

I think Zug (and Griff) look fantastic, but if that is a 40mm, then Zug is going to be hard to field.

All the "big guys" just don't fit well on the board. Each square is just right for a 30mm, that if you have any 40mm bases, they just get in the way, especially if they get knocked down.

I'm not complaining though, any new BB model that looks this good is a step in the right direction. Long live Blood Bowl!!!

As far as I know, nobody has fielded Zug in about 15 years (he's not at all good, as far as star players go), so it's unlikely to be a serious problem

The elf team did get rescultped..or are you asking for an even more recent one? http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/catalog/productDetail.jsp?catId=cat1060011&prodId=prod1100038&rootCatGameStyle=specialist-games

I used the Elf team for my wood elves. Paint em green and brown and they look great.

Would be cool to see the rest of the teams get an updated box. We can always hope!

I wish they'd re-do the Wood Elf team. They're such an uninspiring and bland bunch of models, especially compared to the current look of Wood Elves.

And that Zug is very imposing. Not as goofy as the old mini.

With the right colors and some bitz, this guy could be the perfect "human" bodyguard for an Inquisitor or Rogue Trader.

40mm bases in Blood Bowl aren't such a bad deal. Most teams only have one or two anyway, so it's thta much trouble.

I understand the distinction. It appears Gw wants you to do the models as either of the 3 elf armies by using different colors.. All that really needs upgrading then would be the characters..

I know that's not what you or HBMC want to hear (HIgh Elf, Wood Elf) but I think that's the mindset now.. I could be wrong, it's happened before..

It's certainly not what I want to hear, but it seems par for the course of GW.

I'll be grabbing one as I like him alot. However the main thing I like about him is the stupid Empire army themed bits are pretty much gone.

Never been a fan of the 'make them look like the armies idea' with 3rd edition.

Amazing model, I will have to get it. Pity he can only play for Humies, might have to rethink Golden Demon entries. I can see new Zug bracing himself to take on a Black Orc as a great duel entry.

BTW That idea is copyrighted!!!!! so don't try to steal it!!

What makes you think that? The Elves were never 'resculpted'. The Elves you're talking about are a completely new team.

There are four different Elf teams in Blood Bowl:

High Elves
Wood Elves
Dark Elves
Elves

Yes, just Elves. They have their own special rules and roster for the types of playes they can get, different basic skill sets and so on. They are a complete and separate team, not in any way related to the other three other than being of the same race.
