Hey all, thanks for looking

so, i have the self habit, of what should i say... buy every new 40k army that comes out for example...

ok when i started warhammer 40k when i was about 10-11, of course i went for space marines, i mean who wouldnt i entered the shop and saw these awesome superhumans defending the galaxy etc etc. later on, i left them for the new eldar codex release (ed4) and, after about 700 points abandoned them for reasons even now i cant even remember... i abandoned them for i think it was tyranids after about my 2nd carnifex, i gave up (i know tis a shame), after leaving the world of warhammer i came back when the ork codex got released, i painted gaz, a trukk and batch painted 10 orks from a horrible guide which absolutely killed orks for me, honest to god. then after ANOTHER break i saw the release (about age 16 now) of my old fasioned space marines along with the new edition, after looking at the codex i decided to collect space marines and been playing dow for years i went for blood ravens! so.. now i have almost 1500points of blood ravens which i enjoy painting and playing! but as i see the coming of imperial guard, my fingers are twitching for another army...

i wont just stop with my space marines, and i dont want to get rid of them but it would be cool to have a varied army list too choose from...
what im asking is that...

is it wrong, from my large history of starting an army and failing with them...

should i collect the new imperial guard (or atleast try them out?) but aswell as keeping my beloved space marines too date and playing with them

cheers,
comments/opinions/feedback is always welcome

Yup, go for it.
Makes complete sense for games of Apocalypse.

Also, even if you only paint one squad they would be great for objective markers or you could use them for any number of scenarios.

Oh, Death was never enemy of ours!
We laughed at him, we leagued with him, old chum.
No soldier's paid to kick against His powers.
We laughed - knowing that better men would come,
And greater wars: when each proud fighter brags
He wars on Death, for lives; not men, for flags.

By brothers got the same habbit (although he's settled down on pansy blue marines now). The most frustrating thing about collecting different armies is never having a large force (or many options) and never feeling much achievement from the collection. Also it gets expensive if you keep switching. Loads of people will jump on the guard bandwaggon when it comes out so for a while you'll probably end up facing guard or marines. Personally from a 'sensible' point of view I'd stick with marines, fight some guard, work out their weak points and switch after a couple of months when you know if you'll actually like them or not. - there are a lot of models to paint infantry wise and they're very different from marines (which could be good)!

Having said that (it's my birthday too!) great time to switch!!!!! I'd probably advise adding some sort of theme to them though so they're 'not jsut another guard army' but your guard army that interests people as it's a little different. The encouragement you'll get from it will make painting those troops a little easier!

Plus - never underestimate a lasgun - on it's own it's pants, with massed rapid fire they can bring down chaos deamons! (I've done it recently in one turn! hahaha to chaos)

If you've ever played with green Army Men, then you'll want to play Guard. Especially after today that the reference sheet from the new 'dex got 'leaked' on the French GW site. I may have wet myself a little going over that.
