Not yet. However, I did apply to work at my local GW, so until I know the outcome of that, I won't be buying owt from them.

Whats that? Exploiting staff discount? Whatever do you mean?

Huh!

I imagine the pay is rather low though.

So, working somewhere else and then buying at a discount probably works out better...

I dunno how the pay was. I never worked there, only knew someone who did.

The pay sucks. I know in 2001 I made 2.50 GBP. I was living in the UK at the time. Of course, I was only 18 and had no bills and lived at home, so that was okay. I spent all my money at the store anyways.

Because I think the model looks awful I have not ordered one yet, and probably never will.

£2.50 an hour? You sure?

This will be my third stint working for GW (first two were as Keytimer, starting in 2001 as well).

Least I got paid was a solid 10p above minimum wage.

ANd hey, as long as it pays my bills, the money is enough for me in the short term. Quite happy to put my career into hibernation and ride the recession out at GW....

Well I haven't ordered the stompa, and I will not order the stompa. I am just not impressed with the model enough to spend 65 pounds on it. Also, I really dont think it is big enough, not that making it much bigger would be practical, however I always thought stompas were on par with titans, and the assembled model at the store I saw looked to be about 6 inches shorter than it ought to have been. It disappointed me abit, because I liked the last round of ork stuff so much.

I pre-ordered one at my FLGS, then I cracked open the latest white dwarf and saw the Kustom Stompa datasheet and my head nearly asplode. I'll probably spend another $30-$40 at Hobbytown USA just buying extra stuff to kustomize it. (A suitable cannon for a belly gun, some extra slightly smaller gunz and a load of bombs for the Def-arsenal) I hadn't thought of a name yet. It'll probably come once I get it painted.

I've got one pre-release stompa at each of my two shops, so I'll order one more for myself. We have about 8 on pre-order from various people. We'll probably end up gettig in a couple dozen between the two stores.

After playing around with it, I think it's an outstanding kit. Lots and lots of cool little details, and a lot of thought went into it. Many loose bits of wires, pistons, armor plates, and glyph plats. Quite easy to customize, and mixes well with Battlewagon and Truck parts.

....and lo!.....The Age of Sigmar came to an end when Saint Veetock and his hamster legions smote the false Sigmar and destroyed the bubbleverse and lead the true believers back to the Old World.

It's £60 though, not £65.

Also, Stompa's, traditionally, were the Orky equivalent of Knights in Epic.

Stompa's are on par with a baneblade tank.

The Titan's were called Gargant's. The larger titans were Mega Gargants.

Theres a copy of the size of a Stompa, and it was on par with the mega tanks.

The Stompa looks kinda small for 95.00, but I'm still kicking the idea of getting one around.
You'd think you would have just as soon make your own, as pay that much for the thing. I do like them alot better then the Armorcast ones, but the price is the stick that is keeping me off of it.

At Games Workshop, we believe that how you behave does matter. We believe this so strongly that we have written it down in the Games Workshop Book. There is a section in the book where we talk about the values we expect all staff to demonstrate in their working lives. These values are Lawyers, Guns and Money.

Let's hope the manager doesn't lurk here, and finds out you're only interested in the discount and nothing else..

What's that? YOu mean you really want to promote the hobby? Can you do that without a discount? Then you are hired..... that's right, no discount for you!!

To be honest, the discount is just a bonus. I liked working for GW! Absolutley genuinely so!

There is no way to make that actually sound sincere, but it's true!

Stompas were'nt titans, just big tanks. I know when I played epic they were only about twice as good as a battle waggon and were'nt as good as a baneblade (baneblades were superheavies, stompas weren't). If anything the 40K one's been souped up a bit. Orks had gargants, great gargants and Mega Gargants as thier titan equivalents. I think a normal gargant was slightly better than a warhound but can't be sure as it was years ago now.

I'm not that impressed with the model either. for £60 it seems a little empty if you know what I mean.

As for wages a managers not on that good a wage. I'm bottom of payscale in my job (which is underpaid as well due to management!) and I'm on more than a store manager is (I know becuase I thought of applying until I spotted that!).

I'm still on the fence with the Stompa. I really liked the Mek Boy Stompa since it was just goofier than the standard. I was a little disappointed that the initial model didn't come with the options for whichever version you want. I'm sure that there are some folks who prefer the Klaw Stompa too.

Even at that though, it's not the end of the world. My main hesitation is that I don't play many Apocalypse games. I'm more inclined to spend money on some Trukks or a Battlewagon which I can use for most games rather than a model which will sit in the closet for all but four or five games per year.

Are there limits on how much staff can buy per month with 50% off discount?

Or they'll ask from time to time where did the stuff you buy go off to D:

Sadly, selling *any* second hand stuff when a Staff Member is a sackable offence.

I kind of understand why, as I would be abusing my discount somewhat.

But other than that you can buy as much as you want. All gets written down (or at least it did when I last worked there. Electronic System might have made that redundant paperwork now) in the staff sales book, receipt stapled to correct page.

If I get the job, I shall treat myself to an Inquisitor Model a month, as I like painting them, and of course, Tonka's Tuff Gitz might just breach the original 2,000pt target size!
