Subject: Imperial Guard Wave Releases

I wanted to avoid cluttering up the rumors forum with speculation and avoid confusion it might cause, so I've started this in the general discussion forum.
There has been alot of discussion on the topic of IG models and the release of the Codex.
Wave one: Valkyrie (and Vendetta), Ratlings, Primaris Psyker, Sentinel (and Spearhead Sentinel), Cadian Command Sqd, Catachan Command Sqd, Updated Cadian Sqd, Updated Catachan Sqd.
Planetstrike Release: Storm Troopers
Confirmed Wave two: Redone Leman Russ (Battle Tank, Exterminator, Demolisher, Vanquisher), Redone Chimera (and Hellhound, Devil Dog, and Bane Wolf); Comissar Lord (WIP shown), Advisors (previewed in WD but not officially on the release schedul yet)
Speculative Wave two: "Cadian" Style Rough Riders (confirmed as being worked on), Veteran Imperial Guard (no confirmation on style, just that something being done)
Beyond these units there are many that are confirmed as being in the new rule book that will not have models at release or even a blip in the pipe line. I know some can easily be represented with current models but I'll list all those that don't as yet have an official model or any inkling of a release :
Conscripts, Penal Guard, "Mentor", Eradicator, Executioner, Punisher, Colossus, Griffon, Medusa, Hydra, Manticore, Deathstrike, Lukas Bastionne, Artillery Sgt. Harker.
Its been a focal point of frustration that some of these units will not have models available and will demand players to do conversions to play them.
I think for Conscripts we'll never see any real models, just be expected to use one of the pre-existing IG infantry models. For Penal Guard, they are as best as any one can tell the spirited successors to the Last Chancers and GW may simply intend for us to use those models.
While many had speculated that the Executioner and Punisher might have been lumped into a single box with the Demolisher since they share features it has since been confirmed that the Demolisher will be with the Battle Tank in wave two. This leaves the Execution, Punisher, and Eradicator to be lumped together. With no other differences between variants known, the only differences between these three and the variants in the redone Leman Russ box are their turret weapons. With only that difference it appears that they could easily fit on a single sprue, possibly sold in the same way as the "Deaf-rolla" for the Orks as a direct order part.
A big addition to the codices are the increased number of artillery units Colossus, Griffon, and Medusa. Built on the chimera chassis in much the same way as the Basilisk it has been speculated that they may share in part or be included in a redone Basilisk kit. Such a 4 way combined kit would be on the larger side unless GW were to apply the modularity design theory that they incorporated into the Shadowsword/Stormlord model. That model utilizes a large cannons using a variety of interchangeable components to assemble 4 different cannon variants for the super heavy tank; similar work could alleviate the need for so many more sprues for these artillery units.
The Medusa and Hydra are two new units, that are likely to see practical use in planetstrike and stand out to me as two units likely to have models done sooner rather than later. The forgeworld models of these two share a majority of their components hence why I've lumped them together. Assuming no major design change these would tightly fit on one sprue or very easily on two. For that reasonI wouldn't be surprised to see some redesign occur. GW may simply refit their current turret design to fit on the updated chimera hull to remove the need for an alternate hull section.
The deathstrike will probably be the most demanding and largest of new models done. With its single large ballistic missile it will take up alot of sprues. It will require a modified chimera hull, or a new designed chassis. Either way the missile has traditionally dwarfed the carrier coming close to doubling the contents of a chimera kit. This is one that will likely price the same as or more than a land raider.
For the two new special characters, I doubt GW will let these guys sit unmade for too long, I bet they will be stuck in with the 2nd wave. as yet little is known.

I'm sure the entire community weeps for IG players who might have to do some minor conversions or order from FW. This has never happened in the entire history of the hobby.

Personally I think the community is better off when people are doing more converting. It reinforces the fact this is a hobby and not just a game. So I think that is a silver lining.

Fallacy.
Game = Hobby, regardless of work done, unless it is your profession.

How is an opinion a fallacy? Your point of contention is a semantic argument. I am drawing distinction between two components of playing GW games. There is the stuff that happens before you come to the table, that is the "hobby" and there is the stuff when you are playing, that is the "game". Now you have the definition I was using, you're welcome to form an opinion that is more than just trolling.
My point is when people participate more in any hobby in a creative capacity they end up more vested in it than they other wise would be. Vested interest keeps people involved. That is a good thing.

Over on Warseer, the Dude has been maintaining a running log of rumors. In this instance the rumor on the contents of the Leman Russ and Chimera had come up and confirmed independently by a number of different GW staffers, who pretty much said they wouldn't be in the first wave but the next one. The first wave was confirmed at the open day, with not much else said. The commissar lord and Advisors should really both be in the speculative category because even less has been said about their release; they could just as easily be in wave one, but only the ones listed have officially been listed in the trade listing and considered definitive. I think the biggest grey spot is Planetstrike, because there is suppose to be a couple of thing coming out for that, but what they are is unkown beyond the stormtroopers which is rumored by certain Warseer members "in the know" sources but without any other backup.
