K i dont like drinking milk, no idea why , so i thought about eating cheese ( mozzarella ) instead.
Do normal kraft cheese , Cheestrings have enough nutrition to replace milk? Or its just sales pitch?
I bought some http://www.cheestrings.ca/ProductZone.aspx on the package it says
1 strip = 1 cup of milk or something... But i read the nutrition facts, it doesnt look as healthy
as they claimed it to be 0.o
Anyone?

Cheese has a few advantages, and a few disadvantages.
Since it's only comprised of about half the content of milk itself (generally cutting out the whey, the liquid part of milk that separates from the curd, except for in cases of cheese like Velveeta), it has a lower amount of calcium. But it generally has twice as much protein as a serving of milk. Unfortunately, this also means that it is a lot more fattening.
I wouldn't rely on processed cheeses like String Cheese, American Cheese, or generally any semi solid cheese (Squeeze Cheese, Cheez Whiz, etc.), as they tend to be a lot less healthy for you than non-processed cheese. Stick to natural cheeses if you want to go that route. Generally, the worse it stinks, the better it is for you. Though most truly pungent cheeses are hard to come by.
There are also alternatives, like yogurt and pudding, that can supplement your calcium as well. There's not much that's better than milk in terms of calcium though (which is the only reason you should be concerned about drinking milk in the first place).

Perhaps you are lactose intolerent? I would suggest trying different kinds of milk (skim, 2%, fat free etc. etc.) If you don't like those, then generally people have yogurt to replace milk. Your also more likely to find some form of yogurt that you think taste's better.

I have a feeling that if you can't stand milk, soy milk is not the answer to your problems.
Though adding vanilla extract to milk (not the kind with alcohol in it) does tend to make it a bit more palatable.

You don't need to drink milk or eat cheese to be healthy. These foodstuffs are characteristic of the pastoral system of agriculture widespread in the Middle East in prehistoric times.
Oriental people like Chinese and Japanese are very often lactose intolerant because the enzyme which digests lactose is switched off when they leave childhood. In westerner people the enzyme generally continues to be produced.
The point is that milk and cheese have never been part of traditional oriental diets but the people are perfectly healthy.

one big warning on american cheeses: most of the stuff you can buy in the super market will not have much of the nice pro-biotic cultures (stuff that will help your immune system, and make the cheese more tasty) left in them, because of the way the american government enforces its policies on milk, so sayith Alton Brown. your much better off getting stuff imported from either Europe or Canada. I like living in Canada. We have better cheese, too!
anyway, youtube link just to show i'm not making this stuff up.

I am a very tolerant person, but the one thing that gets my US vs UK aggression up is the state of cheese in the US. While some supermarkets have a mediocre range, many places just dont sell any great real cheeses (for the reasons given by previous posters). The one thing that really gets me though is when there are US folks visiting the UK and in a subway sandwich shop they complain about not being able to get swiss cheese here. They wouldnt know swiss cheese if they were beat about the head with a roll of it, subway swiss cheese is so synthetic you can barely taste a difference. For a nation that uses cheese in such a large percentage of meals, the US really lacks the good stuff.
nb; I'm well aware you can still get good cheese in the US, but it is not what 99% of meals contain and not what most people are exposed to every day.

Especially the 3%s Will look into yogurt though, no soy milk ! bought it once and it grossed everyone out. As an adult, your body requires a lot less calcium than as a child. However, later in life, women need to keep their calcium levels up or risk osteoporosis (brittle bones...causes old people to break hips a lot). In either case, milk and other milk products contain a high amount of calcium (yay nature ensuring that young mammals have what they need to grow). In either case, if you are in your 20's or early 30's, you need for calcium is probably not very high (unless you're pregnant or lactating) and you can get the amount you need though a fairly normal diet. If you are truly concerned, you can always sub in things like cheese or yogurt. A lot of breakfast cereals and breads are also fortified with calcium so you could go that route as well. You could also sub in the following calcium rich foods: Salmon Tofu Rhubarb Sardines Collard greens Spinach Turnip greens Okra White beans Baked beans Broccoli Peas Brussel sprouts Sesame seeds Bok choy Almonds Just keep in mind that boiling or steaming any of these things tends to leach the calcium out of them so it is best to either eat them raw or cook them in sauces that you will also consume.

See I love cheese and I really dislike the grocery store processed cheese brands. Thankfully my grocery store has an excellent range of high quality cheese that we always buy. But whenever I'm in a foreign country I always eat the local food otherwise I could have just stayed home in the first place.

I'm from a cheese-town... name of 'Bega'. The cheese is pretty highly spoken of, but I'm only really partial to their vintage variety. The brand is a little too expensive to regularly buy cheddar from them.
http://www.begacheese.com.au/
But you don't really need milk or cheese in your diet... I see others have gone into that, so I won't. I do love cheese though...
There are certain soymilks that I absolutely will not drink due to an odd taste. Just a couple of brands. Also try lactose-free milk - the lactose is what makes a lot of people ill, but I think the the lactose is converted to some other form of sugar in this case... Tastes slightly sweet, and usually gets around the common intoletrance. Works for my girlfriend.
