Don't remember seeing this last August, but saw it now. Neat. If it only dropped down to make a futon also, then I'd be sold. Nothing better than having a place to play and lay your head later on. Of course, it would be better with a keggerator attached too.

That's freakin fantastic. I certainly will build/buy a gaming table like this in my future home. Maybe combined with a billard table... The price was lower than I expected it.

It's gorgeous, but I really wonder how many people are going to buy one. It seems like the price and the niche they're aiming for would put them into a very select category.

Honestly, I think if I wanted something like this I'd build it myself. I'd probably spend about the same amount of money, but I'd have a whole garage full of power tools afterwards!

I think they may have over estimated the amount of disposable income that most gamers have.

It's probably better to hire out for less for a custom table. If they haven't changed it, then
the well in the center isn't really ideal for wargaming due to Line of Sight issues. You
need a table that you can go down to eye level. I guess you could use a laser pointer
or periscope, but still. Playing a wargame on that surface would be inconvenient.

Also, part of the price tag is its high quality construction, but Hellfury has commented,
as has a friend of mine, that it's well constructed but not 10k worth. Again, hiring a
good carpenter would probably get you better results.

But if 10k means nothing to you, then sure, it's a nice piece to have. Just know what you're
spending money on.

(I told my gaming group that if I ever lay out that much cash on a table that
they'd have to bury me in it, too).

I'd buy that for maybe 5k, max. Not 10k.

Even then I'd probably have to be forced to buy it. At gunpoint.

A lot of the cost there is the materials. Large pieces of pretty hardwoods are EXPENSIVE.

Which is funny, because wood grows on trees.

Maybe the reason the auto industry is in such trouble is people are buying gaming tables instead of cars?

My first car cost 1/386th of the CHEAPEST one of those.

Totally not worth it (the table, that is... the car was TOTALLY worth it).

I imagine this is aimed at a very specific gamer: those that have both a ton of money and yet still want to be able to appear classy. If I had the money, I'd buy one of those over a similar luxury good.

Think of it as equivalent to a nice pool table, but for gaming. That's the price demographic they're targeting.

I don't think they were aiming at 40k when they made that. It is set up for paper mats like battletec and the like, and it has panel that go on top to cover on going games. Wish I had one to play a quick 32 turns of fed and empire. Cats walking on the board bumping the tiles over gurr.
