Seems pretty clear that GW wouldn't let him sell a book independently. And its also pretty clear that BL wouldn't be interested in it.

Sucks badly for him but I don't see that this is something that should surprise people.

He has used GW IP, fair enough, and they have let them as it was largely not for profit.

And yet, total hats off to the guy for bothering to ask, and then not ranting and whingeing about the decision.

You must live a pretty sheltered life if you think a lame webcomic shutting down is the worst thing that has happened due to the credit crunch.

I browsed TSOALR every now and then, but the funniest joke may have been trying to get BL to support it.

I'm sorry, with a few exceptions "TSOLAR" was a mostly a yawner.

I give the guy credit for what he was trying to do. I found alot of his comics to be amusing and worth flipping through.

The fact that he is known is a credit to his sucess in the community. Give credit where credit is due, stop the internet hate.

Yeah, that does suck, I liked TSOALR. It is a bummer he is going down in flames that is one less aspect of the community for us, which is not good.

Well, the Emperor's Pointy Sticks armies out there will be a testament to the folks out there that really did enjoy it. I can't say that I've kept up with it for a long time, but I really did enjoy it for a while.

I always read it for a quick laugh. I think they've had a pretty nice run over 6 years and I see most if not all of the web/game shop owners on this board posted as sponsors of his.

So it may not be "Hideous Calamitous News", but it does show where our current state of things are and should put the "game" we play in perspective.

TSOALR was alright. It certainly wasn't the worst GW-themed comic ever. That honor belongs to the one that implied that the studio was staffed by pedos.

I enjoyed TSOALR, it's a pity it's going.

They should launch their PayPal contribution appeal again.

Its sad to see them go, I found them funny, and they were what got me into 40K (for a second time)
Although I understand why the BL chose not to allow him to sell the book, they could have allowed some kind of proviso for him to do so. Such as giving the BL a cut of the profits (the obvious option) or simply allowing him to purchase a liscence (which may be out of his means right now).
He is a known property to the GW staff, so it isnt as if he is publishing Rule 34 40k under their noses. I would like to see the BL give him an opening, though not explicitly supporting him.

I'm going to miss TSOALR.

To this day the Iron Warriors bumper sticker 'My other three cars are heavy support choices' and the Kroot selling extra spicy 'Nid wings at KFM still make me chuckle...

The first one hundred or so comics were good, my favourite being the one with the land raider proxying a monolith for the necrons, but after some time it became very not funny, and I stop browsing it. Still sad to see it go down, though.

QFT! BL novels are crap.

Altough it isn't quite as funny as it used to be, it was nice to have a tabletop related webcomic with regular updates.

My personal favourite was when they shot at a Falcon: "We have so many saves, you just shot yourself down."

What, Golden Throne as well? Nooooooooooo!

Golden Throne was more a massive rant on how bad the hobby really is and how stupid we are in following it. The only really good stuff were the guest comics.

And that is why I loved it and Grim Dorkness.

TSOALR had it's moments. "Ouch, right in the heraldry!" stands out for me (Marine Sergeant getting shot in the back banner as it was the only thing visible).

But I lost track after a while and stopped reading when I stopped laughing. Best of luck to the author though and hope his personal life gets better.
