It's fun to blast GW and its' holdings for all manner of reasons. To be honest, they usually deserve it. However, some people are just NEVER happy with ANYTHING and will ALWAYS find a reason to piss and moan.
This is not one of those posts and I am not one of those people.
Last year, Forgeworld sent me an order with some defective parts. After not replying to my emails, I feared they were everything people said. I finally talked to a guy and he apologized and sent me a replacement. Easy peasy. Last week, they plumb blew my socks off.
I placed a $573 order last Sat. night (the 21st) while at work. There was an Eldar Cobra, some Guard tank convrsion kits, a complete Guard tank kit, some Sisters tank upgrades, three guard guns, and 4 infantry squads. That's a lot of stuff.
I got it on Thursday (the 26th). That means it took them FIVE days to process my order, pack it, ship it to Ohio, USA from England. In five days.]
2-0, Forgeworld.

That sounds amazing, and probably a one in a thousand occurence, too.
Although I have a feeling they cater more to big orders, since you spent so much they probably concentrated more on getting yours out than someone who ordered maybe $50 worth of stuff. Either that or you were lucky and they just had everything cast up already, who knows. It's awesome either way.

Well good for you. I myself have only ordered once from FW, and received my two dreads after 6 weeks. Maybe they prioritize big orders.
I also have no idea how the back power plants on my mkIV dreads are supposed to fit on. One section near the bottom of the body looks like it should be filed flat to match the back so the power plant can fit, but on the under side of this section is detail for the waist, which makes me unable to sand it down, and the pipes are too long so half of the connecting area is over space, and only half connects with the back... somewhat frustrating. I have a feeling that there are worse kits though.
Aside from this modeling problem though I'm happy with my dreads, they're some of my favorite models. I would order from FW again as I did not receive any truly terrible flaws or warped pieces, but the time between ordering and receiving was pretty bad.

Forgeworld probably ship stuff quickly if it is in stock. The sooner they ship, the sooner they can charge your card. That argues for shipping large orders first if it can be managed.

See, I kinda hate that though. If you've got the money they place you above everyone else and concentrate on getting your crap out before everyone else (apparently shipping within the same week or less), but if you only bought $50 or $100 worth of stuff? You're lucky if you get it in two months.
I understand in a way, obviously your big spenders are more valuable than the guy buying rhino doors and armor because you're making more off them (well, at least on that one order, I'd car to wager FW make more money selling smaller stuff as it's more affordable), but it's just yet more proof of how everyone caters to people with deep pockets. It shouldn't matter if you spend $50 or $1000, your order should be just as important as the next guy's, especially when you consider it should be something relatively easy to cast in comparison to the reaver, and your order was placed BEFORE the bigger one. But no, screw that, let's hold off on casting the doors for a couple months.

I ordered a copy of the Imperial Armour masterclass modeling book last month, and got it within a week.
I ordered Inquisitor Lok last Monday, and he was here on Friday.
Has nothing to do with big spenders. It's if the thing is in stock.
Depending on the Chapter you buy Rhino Doors for, it'll depend on how long you'll get it. They much prefer to ship things in one batch, rather than one at a time.

Good to hear some positive press on GW/FW. I LOVE just about everything in their range, but the prices and constant negative comments about tardiness, poor fits, and bad customer service warranted or otherwise, put me off. It's good to hear that somebody had a good experience with them, better to hear it's been several people.

At this point I feel I must once again give out a warning to anyone thinking of ordering from Forge World. This is the one PSA I will go on about endlessly because I don't want anyone to fall into the trap I did: Never select the high priority/express shipping option from Forge World. Express shipping means that it ships quickly, not that it will arrive at your house quickly. Sure, the shipping might be a day or two to any point on the planet, but if there's two months between when they receive your order and when they ship your order, who cares about speedy shipping? I made an order that took three months to arrive. I selected express shipping and paid the £40 for that shipping (rather than £20 for the standard). When they shipped the items they arrived within 36 hours (or thereabouts). But they sent it three months after I made the order. When I asked for a refund on the shipping (just £20 to make the difference between normal and express) their responce, after several weeks of waiting for an actual responce, was, and I quote, "We owe you nothing". Now technically speaking I did get the express shipping that I paid for - once shipped it arrived very quickly - I just had to wait three months for that shipping to kick in. So, I say again: Never select the high priority/express shipping option from Forge World. Save your money. Select regular shipping. It's just not worth it otherwise. Sidstyler wrote:See, I kinda hate that though. You're lucky if you get it in two months. I can't see them doing that. They don't favour large orders over small. I ordered two super-heavies at once and waited three months for them.

I ordered the masterclass modelling book off them at the start of the month and got an order number in the confirmation mail from them but heard nothing else for about 2 weeks, I mailed them and got no reply so I rang them up.
I offered to tell him my order number but he told me that there system can't search on order numbers so he needed my name and post code, the fact that my country does not have post codes made it a little harder for him.
In the end I think he just gave up looking for the order and told me it was not on the system and so did not exist. He then warned me to keep an eye on my credit card in case they bill me for the order which does not exist. He did not once ask me what the order was for or if I would like to place it again over the phone. I think I will stick to getting the stuff off ebay if at all.

I feel the same way. Same as you I am just over the irish sea, and their level of customer support is shocking and appauling. I admit it was a tiny order (A single Dread Plasma Cannon and some Brass Etchings) but once I had ordered them, I heard nothing from them for over a month. So I ring them and ask them WTF is going on.
"Oh, were sorry, the brass etchings have been out of stock, and we're getting them in a few days"
Ya, thanks for that, ya could have at least sent off an email saying "This is out of stock, expect a delay." Now that wouldnt have pissed me off so much, were it not for the fact when they tried to charge me, it didn't go through (turns out I had swapped 2 numbers around on the CC number I gave them) and I was inundated with no less than 5 emails asking me to ring them and fix the problem. Which then took over an hour of waiting on the phone as the Guy blindly hit numbers on the PC to get to my order infomation.
So yeah, as much as I love the Models FW do (and regarding the Brass Etchings: "Oh my god. These Brass Etchings, these Brass Etchings, oh my god. These Brass Etchings, oh my god.") I highly doubt I'll be ordering from them again.

As others have noted, the biggest determining factor in timing of an order shipping is whether the item is in stock. Sometimes resin models (most of what FW sells, of course) get a bit "orphaned," as the firm (a very small outfit) works re-casting into its schedule.

the only problems GW usually have are miss moulds are wrong parts in either blisters or box's.
a simple call or talk with someone generally sorts it out straight away, resulting in either a new box or a new part
forgeworld have thier moments, but do make up for it.
i ordered the smaller squiggoth from there, turned up within a few days but i found its front left leg was simply a stump about an inch long, i phoned, but they seemed too busy to help (so i thought at the time)
after a few emails 5 days later i get a free squiggoth turn up, and a letter of apology telling me to keep the miss moulded one aswell.
good sevice? it gets better
the 2nd one they sent me was the huge one, i thought i would do the right thing and phone them, letting them know they sent me the much more expensive one, they simply told me its too much trouble to sort out and keep it.

Forgive my geographic ignorance, but I have never been to England, Scotland, or Ireland. Is it too far for you to go from Ireland to England in a day? It seems that if you could just make a day out of it, it would save you a lot of headache if you just went and picked one up.
