Someone of the PP boards received this pic from GDC.

Then, someone did some digging on the companies on the bottom of that screenshot and found this.

So it seems legit, and not some early April Fools joke. But I'm still scratching my head because those jacks don't have any weapons or faction insignia.

Edit: Link to PP forum discussion on this.

Probably an Alpha shot for the basics of the game to drive some promo and show off what the engine's capable of. The game's probably far from finished.

What kind of game are we looking at? Tactics or a piece of gak brawler?

This is all of the information that is publicly available right now. For all we know, it's a jack dress up game.

Probably a beat-em-up.

I guess this means that PP is dropping their earlier stance of no video games being made of their games. It's easy to see why.

GW and 40k got a huge boost in sales and name recognition from their games, most especially the wildly successful Dawn of War 2 game.

The only problem here is, who is making this game? A bad game can damage an IP in the public eye. Best to go with a well known company like Relic for DoW2.

Oh and if you go to the scaleform site you'll see a screenshot, albiet small, of in-game footage, not just the menu screen. Looks like a Cryx jack on some kind of bridge.

Thanks to the games GW is becoming a more accepted midstream culture thing.

Everyone I talk to says DoW2 isn't that great. I didn't even buy it. DoW was fething awesome though, I played that game too many times.

DoW2 is great, really great. However, it is different from DoW1, and different from many RTS games out there, which is part of the reason DoW2 is a great game.

So, take note of the type of person you're talking to and your own preferences. Some people just never get used to change or are too single minded/set in their ways to try something new. DoW2 cuts out a lot of extra chaff from the RTS formula and focuses on the actual fighting, not SimCity base building.

Oh and that screenshot makes me think the warmachine game is likely an action beat-em-up starring you as a warjack. The camera is placed just right for that kind of game. Perhaps a game like "God of Warmachine"?

The pics on the scalefrom link show the ground's covered in squares, so it might be a turn-based strategy game.

That would be even better than a Barbie modeler.

Slightly, but not much.

I'm hoping for a near port of the game itself(or at least an RTT), or close enough so I can get my WM fix when I can't get to a game store.

Why am I the only person who likes the idea of a Warmachine beat-em-up game? It's perfect, suits the subject matter very well anyway...giant steam-powered robots beating the crap out of each other, I thought this is all PP was about. PAGE 5! FULL METAL COMBAT (oops, plastic models coming soon!)! CAPS LOCK!!!

Seriously though, I like the idea. Mechwarrior was one of my favorite PC games of all time (kinda sad there was never a fifth game), I like giant robot combat but there haven't been a lot of games out there outside the Armored Core series that really appeal. I think it'd be fun and it makes sense to me, suits the skirmish-style combat of the TT game better. I can't imagine a Warmachine game where you build full on armies a la DoW, the real game never looks like that anyway, it's always a couple of jacks and some infantry and that's about it.

yeah... no video game, but that mean I don't have to buy a PS3 or 360.

I think it's a cool idea too, and well in keeping with the spirit of the game. Not entirely sure what they would do with the 'jacks that are more ranged combat based, but the melee jacks would rock!

Spirit of the game would mean two armies clashing. Warjack vs. warjack would mean just one
part of the game.

I'd say it would work best as a tactical RPG, sorry for wishlisting.

Not too pushed on the graphics though.
