I've attached pictures of how we spent last saturday night. She's finished a Ork boy and a Nob so far and is helping me with the rest of them. It's a hellava lot of fun, I'll post pictures of our models when we use her camera, my camera phone makes them look like a blob on the table.

Anyone else use 40k as bonding time?

Anuvver fing - when they do sumfing, they try to make it look like somfink else to confuse everybody. When one of them wants to lord it over the uvvers, 'e says "I'm very speshul so'z you gotta worship me", or "I know summink wot you lot don't know, so yer better lissen good". Da funny fing is, arf of 'em believe it and da over arf don't, so 'e 'as to hit 'em all anyway or run fer it.

In fact i'm just a lowly painter, so in reality i don't play with toy soldiers, therefore i can and do have a girlfriend. It's not important really, what's important is that acrylic paint can hurt, and you can only scrub a nob so hard to get it off...

Seriously... a great way to turn a women off of gaming is to suggest something that's obviously, and pathetically, sexual. The female guardsperson might be a good idea, as it is a woman who obviously is strong enough to fight in the 41st millennium

However, this might be a good mini, even though it's not 40k, it's GW, and it's a very pretty mini without being overtly sexual.

How about a callidus assassin for a powerful motherfigure?

The eye of terror.

Callidus, Sisters of battle figure, there are some female Eldar, such as Jain Zar, Howling Banshees, one of the Warlocks, etc.

Of course, she might not actually want to paint a female specifically. Ask her about what type of SF archetypes she likes. If she likes space nuns in power armor with guns, or space elves, or she might even like orks or bugs or something else.

Remember what was said about "overtly sexual" models turning females (well, people in general, really) off gaming?

You can immediately remove the Callidus and her skintight gimp suit from the list. Likewise, Bondage Sisters in their Power Lingerie can go right out the window. Now, admittedly, perhaps your preferred lady is into those sorts of things, in which case, go for it.

Just a note in general: GW cannot sculpt decent female models, period. By decent, I mean females that do not consist of the body of a 14-year-old boy's dreams and the face of a man. There was one Bretonnian Enchantress a long while back that actually looked like a, well, attractive female, but she's been discontinued. Shame.

Personally, though, I'd just let her pick out something from the GW site and pick it up at the store. That's how my fiancee decided she likes squigs (along with every other female on the planet, it seems) and now she's got a partially-painted, never-played Night Gobbo army.

She looks young, probley about 18 or so.

I'm sure that his GF knows he posted the pics. Obviously she posed for them. My wife plays 40k as well took a little bit but motivation/excitement and fun is contagious. Plus, its better then watching a boring sitcom.

While hell will freeze over before my wife shows any interest in wargaming, my mate has gotten his fiancee into GW. She has decided to do Black Templars. Dunno what that says about my mate that he's into chicks who are attracted to armies of frothing loonies .

A lad at my old haunt in GW Darlington had a girlfriend who was into Warhammer, she had a Chaos Undivided army if I recall correctly. Her models were amazingly painted! Also there was (prob still is, but I've not been down to the shop since January) a Goth chick who came and painted in GW Aberdeen, used to be the girlfriend of my mate there. Dunno what her painting skills were like, but she was smoking hot! (one advantage of a wife who shows no interest in this stuff is that I wont get in hot water for this as she wont ever read it ).

The world needs wannabes.
