Kind of a light question, but what (if any) kind of music do you like going on when you game? My local store plays lots of movie score type stuff, and I know in others it's heavy metal. Personally one day I had the Sound of Silence going through my head in a SM v Necron game I was playing that set the mood for me.

Local GW store plays Metallica, Linkin Park, Ramstein and other generic heavy metal on a constant loop. Good thing the kiddies don't understand German...
As far as we go, my CD collection consists almost exclusively of soundtracks and scores. My most recent list of acquisitions were:

Armageddon (score, not the Aerosmith-heavy 'sound track')
 Aliens
 The Mummy Returns
 Conan The Barbarian
 Stargate: Ark of Truth
 Stargate: Continuum
Halo Trilogy + Halo 2 Volume 1 (which doesn't come in the Trilogy, funnily enough)
King Kong (Peter Jack's King Kong the Official Soundtrack of the Movie)
 Gladiator (the second Gladiator soundtrack)
 Clone Wars

And I think that's it. Usual soundtracks that we put on are the Pirates of the Caribbean ones, the Lord of the Rings complete soundtracks (the boxed sets that go for about $100-$150 used on Amazon), the Star Wars soundtracks, plus a few random other ones like Starship Troopers, The Rock (the movie, not the wrestler), God of War II, Run Lola Run (German Techno FTW!) and heaps of other stuff.

I've been meaning to rip them all to MP3 and put them onto some sort of iPod-ish device that I can plug into a speaker system.

The Metalheads are out in full force I see.
I like a bit of Metal as much as the next man (The new Mastadon album is my favorite album of the year sofar), but for my gaming I prefer something a bit more sweeping and epic. Movie and Game scores with some Classical always goes down well.

 for 40K:
The Scores from Star Wars, Starship Troopers, Black Hawk Down, Halo, Gears of War. Im not sure if there is a Battlestar Glactica soundtrack but if there is I indend to hunt it gown. Also the Music from the Command and Conquer games. The Music from Generals is excellent and Hellmarch from Red Alert is the perfect music for Imperial Guard armies. Also the Score for Hunt for Red October is very Guardlike. Ive also found the Music from Batman Begins and Dark Knight is suprisingly creepy and can be used to great effect in 40K games.

 For Fantasy:
The Scores from Gladiator, Kingdom of Heaven, Lord of the Rings, Excalibur, Conan the Barbarian tend to go down well.

Also I use the scores from WW2 movies for my games of Flames of War as well as music from the period. Nothing like a bit of Glenn Miller or Edith Piaf to blow up tanks to!

Wow! This must be the first time I see typhus use capital letters. I recently finished a sampler CD with different movie and videogame music for playing 40k . Yeah, a CD, I like making sampler CDs The track list is the following:

  Incubation - First Contact
Metal Gear Solid 3 - Operation Snake Eater
  Lost Planet - Battle Ready
Dawn of War - Space Marine theme
  Starcraft - Terran theme 1
  Mass Effect - Exit
  MGS3 - virtous mission
  Lost Planet - Main Theme
the incredible Hulk - give him everything you've got
  Starship Troopers . Bugs!!
  Resident Evil 4 - Back-Up
Super Mario Galaxy - Bowser Battle Theme
Alone in the Dark - and End for a Prelude
Stargate (movie) - battle at the pyramid
  Republic Commando . GratuaCuun
Starship Troopers - Destriuction of Roger Young
  Transformers - Skorponok
  MGS4 - Metal Gear Saga
  Lost Planet - Garave's Theme

All in all, this makes for a very satisfying 40k soundtrack. It starts silent to set the mood, but in the end, there's a lot of epic battle music.
