I checked this out when 5th came out, but I was just in a conversation about it and I clearly don't have this concept down.

Can Chaos terminators deepstrike if they have a dedicated landraider transport? And if they can what options do I have for the transport?

I'm considering running the combination in a tournament, but for the sake of composition (which I hate), I am wanting to run the landraider as dedicated transport for my elite terminators rather than a heavy choice.

Thanks and let me know

Yes they can. Just because they have a Dedicated Transport, that doesn't mean they cannot Stay In reserve and Deploy Via Deep Strike.

Same for Loyalist Marines too.

Dedicated transports dont have funky rules saying you have to start in them or with them or anything, the only thing you cannot do with a Dedicated Transport is have a different unit start the game in it. Other than that its open Season. You can have a unit of Space Marines with Drop Pod decide to deploy instead and send the pod down empty, you can have a Squad of Fire Warriors stay in reserve and deploy their Devilfish, and you most certainly can have a squad of Terminators buy a Land Raider and stay in reserve to Teleport in.

Um to be honest there is a way to deep strike a land raider, but you have to allow forgeworld. There is a variant of the thunderhawk, called the Thunderhawk transporter. That is the only way I know of

No I wanted to start the landraider on the board, and deepstrike the terminators. Deep striking landraiders? Thats just crazy talk.

Actually with the old Legion of the Damned list, you deployed your entire army via deepstrike. Before the game began. So in a sense, you used to be able to deep strike landraiders.

At first I read that if Land Raider could Deep Strike with Terminators....but I thought that it was too stupid to be true.
I think that the question is that can Terminators Deep Strike and still allow their Land Raider (which is a dedicated transport) to deploy on ground.
My answer is, if I have understood other posts in this forum, is yes. You can deploy Land Raider on ground and Deep Strike with Terminators on, for example, turn 2, and then move them inside it.

Win/Draw/Lost statics
Space Orks: 11/1/1
Space Marines: 10/2/5
Lizardmen: 8/2/3
High Elves: 13/2/2 and one tournament victory!
Dark Eldar: 1/0/0

Explained better than I could have done. Incidentally, a few weeks ago, a deliciously entertaining idea popped into my head involving a Master of the Forge, 6 Dreadnoughts, and tac squads with drop pods...

Keep whatever Ironclads you want in their pods to drop on the 1st turn (along with the balance of empties for your half-rounded-up). Every other pod is empty, unless you want to drop a pod full of troops on an objective. The rest are empty and dropped in tactically irritating positions for your opponent to circle around whilst you position the rest of your army at relative leisure. Sometimes, causing as much annoyance as possible can be a win.

Until you have to go to the hospital to remove a drop pod that seemed to scatter really far off the board and up your bum. Geeee how did that happen? *shifty eyes*

Though I guess if you have any time and sanity to assemble that many drop pods, more power to you.
